My husband has watched a few episodes of Game of Thrones. They're usually not concurrent, just an episode here and there. He never understands what's going on because he hasn't watched it from the beginning. He complains that nothing **ever** happens.

This week he started watching Game of Thrones from season 1 episode 1. I am watching some with him. He just watched the episode where they behead Eddard Stark. "They didn't really just kill eddard Stark, did they?!" I asked him if he really wanted me to tell him or whether he'd rather just watch the next episode. He decided to just watch the episode. He thinks that they didn't really do it.

I'm not sure how he's going to handle the Red Wedding.

Anyway, all that being said, it's interesting to go back and rewatch from the beginning. There are a few episodes/seasons I didn't watch carefully. I think I'll enjoy rewatching this

I am one of the few on the planet to have not watched GOT (so far).

I recently finished reading the first 5 books and then started watching season 1. The show seems like it follows the books fairly well, but I know at a certain point HBO outpaces the written canon.

Edit to say: avoiding spoilers for latter seasons is a b****!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Even if I knew what happened, it's still a really entertaining series.

It's ok. It's not a life.

I'm doing the same thing. My wife finally decided to get into GoT so we started on Season 1 Episode 1 a few weeks ago. I'm enjoying seeing stuff I either forgot about or didn't pay much attention to. Also seeing my wife react to Red Wedding, Ned's Death, Purple Wedding, Mountain v Viper is pretty funny. We just finished season 4 today and she knows somewhat who is still alive on season 8 so she asked about Mountain V Viper I told her viper wins. (She knows Tyrion is still alive) Her jaw dropped as that scene unfolded.

Interesting choice for the subject line.

thank you for clarifying your husband doesn't watch GoT season 1 episodes at the same time all the time. When he does watch episodes concurrently does he position two TVs side by side or watch one episode on the tv and one on his phone?

Yes, my husband has watched more of this season with me than any other. So he recognizes a lot of the characters he's seeing.

And I am enjoying seeing things I missed the first time around, or from his point of view.

Not sure if serious.

Actually, pretty certain it's not.

I watched the first episode, then read the whole series before I watched another episode. I finally got HBO after convincing the wife and made it all the way through the end of season 6 right before season 7 started and then my wife saw a bunch of Dany clips and wanted to watch.

So I paused and watched all 6 seasons again with her I had to bite my tongue about Ned's death, red wedding, Jon's death, and the Sept of Baelor blowing up. I knew spoilers for episode 5 so having to keep that under wraps when I know Dany was her favorite and about to break was brutal

Knowing what's coming and not warning her was not enjoyable.

I wish I could go back and watch it for the first time again. So many great moments over 6 seasons.

i just rewatched in anticipation for the new season, and never noticed that Qyburn was a Harrenhal survivor (maybe the only one). Weird that ends up working for the forces that tortured him.

Yikes! Just rewatched seadon 2, episode 7.

Things I forgot:

Tywin knew Arya was high born passing for low born.

Jamie was a real POS... he sat there and listened to the Lannister kid fawn all over him. There was some real hero worship going on there. And then he killed him.

While searching fornthe Stark boys, Theon pitches a little fit and states that people will see him a a weak eunuch. Oh, boy!
