I've only been to one:
Way back in July 2002, I finally was called for tickets to a Late Show with David Letterman taping. To prove I was a "real fan" of the show, they asked me one or two super easy questions (I think one was "who is Dave's band leader?"). So, my wife and I scheduled a quick NYC trip for that next week. We had tickets for a Thursday, and Dave taped Thursday's and Friday's show that day. We were in the first group, so we saw Thursday's taping.
The studio is tiny, and if you ever remember hearing any of his guests remark on how cold his studio was.....they weren't kidding. It was almost 100 outside in the July heat, but it was f-ing freezing in his studio. Dave came out before the taping and talked to the audience for about 10 minutes.
His first guest was Geena Davis, who was promoting Stuart Little 2. Then, he brought out Jay Thomas (the hockey player husband of Carla on "Cheers"). He and Dave took turns trying to knock a meatball off a Christmas tree with a football. Yep, it was weird.
Finally, his musical guest was Robert Plant....which was very cool.
Oh, and the next day while touring the city, we got a sandwich from the "Hello Deli" and got Rupert to sign a menu.

That's me wearing an A&M hat.
