How was season 1
That had a certain potential --sort of a variant on the theme you see in Starship Troopers --- an alien menace being seen in terms more like war movie where you don't have an enemy character's pov and with comparatively little details. It slowly expanded into more exposition. It wasn't half bad as a series, but nothing like SG-1 or anything like that in level.jabberwalkie09 said:texsn95 said:
Space: Above and Beyond
Taken by a Fox sci-fi show from the mid 90's.
You know, now that I think back on it you are right. That was very Korean/ Vietnam War in tone. The uniforms certainly felt that way, but also the way the Saratoga operated and the somewhat "from a distance" of much of it. It didn't seem WW II-ish at all.jabberwalkie09 said:
There were a lot of themes in that show that I felt came from the Korean and Vietnam Wars in particular. I enjoyed the series when it aired. I doubt a show like that would get made today unless it comes from an already established franchise.
Granted, I really enjoyed the Stagate franchise but I think they were kind of at the creative end with SGA. But they didn't really know what to do with SGU until the second season.

So, finished the season and the second season is an improvement over the first. Not sure how the Resolute ended up in the same system as the Robinsons, but whatever. Maybe I missed that.

They didn't do a great job of explaining that. I assume the SAR tracked them, via the engine, to that system?

I'm almost through this season and I'm enjoying it for the most part. my biggest issue is they try to cram in as many events as possible into each episode. it is all just a bit over the top and after a while becomes mind numbing. I would like to see more of just one problem that has to be solved instead of 17 little ones happening at the same time across 9 different locations.
