Bruce Willis is the voice of the Robot. And they find a second one, voiced by Roseanne.

That had a certain potential --sort of a variant on the theme you see in Starship Troopers --- an alien menace being seen in terms more like war movie where you don't have an enemy character's pov and with comparatively little details. It slowly expanded into more exposition. It wasn't half bad as a series, but nothing like SG-1 or anything like that in level.

There were a lot of themes in that show that I felt came from the Korean and Vietnam Wars in particular. I enjoyed the series when it aired. I doubt a show like that would get made today unless it comes from an already established franchise.

Granted, I really enjoyed the Stagate franchise but I think they were kind of at the creative end with SGA. But they didn't really know what to do with SGU until the second season.

You know, now that I think back on it you are right. That was very Korean/ Vietnam War in tone. The uniforms certainly felt that way, but also the way the Saratoga operated and the somewhat "from a distance" of much of it. It didn't seem WW II-ish at all.

It last two seasons-- was really kind of liking it by the time of the inevitable cancellation. (Before the current cable subscription things it was hard to expect any to last--Firefly suffered the same.)

My kids and I binged season 2 the last two days. I liked it fine. Not great, but fun. Worth watching, which is better than most shows coming out right now.

It took a while for me to finish season one but binged through two very quickly. The show has gotten loads better from one to two . Weird thing is I still don't really have a favorite character in fact I actually dislike Will ( far too whiny). Penny and Don may actually be the best characters. Parker Posey is great. Her portrayal is such a nice fresh take on Smith. Hopefully it will get a few more seasons.

So, finished the season and the second season is an improvement over the first. Not sure how the Resolute ended up in the same system as the Robinsons, but whatever. Maybe I missed that.

They didn't do a great job of explaining that. I assume the SAR tracked them, via the engine, to that system?

A buddy of mine who I trust, hyped Season 2 so, I gave it a look.
Episode 1, I remembered how much I can't stand the semi-autistic pet kid Will, the mother, and the forced demographics.
the sailing scenes were so bad, I had to show my wife who knows a thing or two about sailing

I'm almost through this season and I'm enjoying it for the most part. my biggest issue is they try to cram in as many events as possible into each episode. it is all just a bit over the top and after a while becomes mind numbing. I would like to see more of just one problem that has to be solved instead of 17 little ones happening at the same time across 9 different locations.

Same here. I still really enjoyed the show and can't wait for Season 3, but they don't need to make EVERY SINGLE THING go wrong all of the time.

I think they tried too hard to respond to one of the criticisms from the first season, that the pacing was largely too slow.
