It's been 3 weeks since the season premiere, but is anyone watching?

I thought the first two episodes were the best of Whittaker's run so far and had me excited about the season. This last episode sucked though, such a preachy episode about global warning.

I'm still not digging the collaborative companion effort.

I think my problem with Whittaker's version of the doctor so far is she's trying to be a girl version of Smith's doctor. Down to her delivery and quips, I haven't been able to pick out anything that's unique to Whittaker so far when it comes to the Doctor's personality. And it's really hard to be a better version of Smith than what he was able to bring to the character.

Other than that, it's not awful but so far her run has been pretty forgettable so far. I'm hoping her progression follows Capaldi's, as he got much better as time went on (no pun intended).

Whittaker is doing the best she can with the poor writing and group companion thing they have going on IMO.

Are the earlier seasons available anywhere for streaming? Used to be on Prime but looks like you have to buy episodes/seasons now.

My God....

That last episode....

The cameo.

The identity of the fugitive.

I hope they can stick the landing of what they are building towards.

Seems to really slow things down, but I suspect that's intentional as Chibnall's version of clock management.

I just finished the episode. Another good episode, this season is already much better than last.

Fun cameo, one I can honestly say I never thought I'd see again. Really confused by the finish, but I'm actually looking forward to finding out where it goes. Feels very much like a Moffat storyline.

Good standalone episode yesterday. But damn, I don't think every episode has to be some crazy statement on today's culture.

3 more episodes, with the last two being the season finale.

Wow, that finale f'ing sucked. Completely threw away everything about the doctor in my eyes. Can't believe they went with that storyline.

It's like they are trying to kill the show.

Chibnall might just have. This season's ratings have been the worst of NuWho and this ending has pissed off a ton of hardcore Doctor Who fans. He retconned the entire show and premise of the doctor. I couldn't believe what I was watching

I made it through a a few of the Capaldi episides. IMO, the new series was at its peak w/ Tennant. I liked Eccleston's short run too. Smith was ok, but it nosedived after Karen Gillam left. I could not stand Oswald or whatever her name was.

The doctor is basically the original time lord. The people of gallifrey studied her and discovered the ability to regenerate. Then developed time travel. The doctor has unlimited regenerations and it makes a lot of the previous big moments unimportant.

Ok some of this is a problem to me and some of it is expected.

Originally the show had said there were only going to be 12 regenerations which would mean 13 doctors. Whitaker is the 13th doctor, so you should have always assumed either the show ended now or they retconned exactly what you see above. the doctor being the original timelord is kind of dumb but they way they have played with time is always just different than other sci-fi

Didn't River Song give her remaining regens to the Doctor during that whole Astronaut in the lake arc? I'm still waiting to find out what happened to the Doctor's granddaughter, Susan.

Yes, and now that is meaningless

It was in the The Time of the Doctor with Matt Smith when he regenerated in his last Christmas Special when the Time Lords on Gallifrey in the pocket universe gifted the Doctor an unspecified number of regeneration to fight all his enemies. Smith was the 12th Doctor but also the 13th version because of the War Doctor. So they solved the regeneration issue with that episode. And everyone was okay with it.

So with this new episode where they revealed the Doctor has unlimited regenerations, it completely negated that whole story line. Why grant the Doctor more regenerations if he could already do it.

Plus the whole premise of the Doctor is that he isn't anything special and that his character was a Time Lord who "ran away" with a tardis to travel. Now, he's literally the only true time lord and incredibly special.

Chibnall even knew that there would be blowback because he had the scene in the Matrix where one of the past versions told her that it doesn't change who the Doctor is because she'll still be traveling and trying to do what is right. SO THEN WHY HAVE THAT STORYLINE IN THE FIRST PLACE?! If it doesn't supposedly change anything, why do it?

1. Hartnell
2. Troughton
3. Pertwee
4. Baker
5. Davison
6. C. Baker
7. McCoy
8. McGann
War Doctor - Hurt
9. Eccleston
10. Tennant
Aborted Regeneration from Tennant
11. Smith
12. Capaldi
13. Whittaker

So that's my mistake, the story in the Time of the Doctor was that due to the War Doctor AND Tennant's aborted regeneration. So that is why he was out of regenerations, I was including the War Doctor in my 'count' of doctors, but technically Smith is the 11th Doctor but was the last iteration of him due to the above circumstances.

Season 13 is actually pretty good. I been enjoying the first two episode.. can't believe that this is the same writer and producer that gave us the previous 2 seasons.

Really enjoying the new villain and the fact that this feels like a serial ..similar to the old Doctor who.. with two great cliff hangers so far.

This series 13 is the first one in a long time that doesn't feel like I am getting preached .. and the Doctor is really in trouble.

Can't wait for next Sunday.
