Tom Sizemore was genius before he let the booze and drugs F up his life. And very underrated IMO.

I'm not sure if Paul Giamatti is underrated or not. But I have been impressed without about everything he has done that I have seen.

Same for Piven. Dude commands any scene he is in.

Joel Kinnaman - watch The Killing. His character, Holder, is one of my all time favorites. He's been in some crappy movies though.

Jackie Earl Haley is underrated too. He's been around forever.

Also, I'm going to say Gary Oldman. He's well regarded, and of course like Rockwell, he has an Oscar. However, I think Oldman deserves to be mentioned among the greatest actors working, and for whatever reason he gets slated in that 2nd tier.

I think those that know him appreciate him, but I don't think he is valued to his potential. He's never been nominated for a major award.

I like Kinnaman (and geez that dude works out) but I feel like he's always more or less the same character in everything I see him in (Altered Carbon, Robocop, Hanna, haven't watched The Killing).

Has he done anything a bit different?

I wouldn't call Gary Oldman and Sam Rockwell underrated. Maybe Rockwell was a few years ago, but no longer. Gary Oldman is one of the most respected actors of all time and has been nominated for many awards. He may not be an A lister, but he is a huge name when added to a movie cast.

I agree, and that's my point. He's underrated even though he's highly rated, because I think he's among the best working. Rockwell isn't the household name he should be, though I think that's changing.
