My rough estimate on the OP's age is 68.

Which movie did you have to record over? I remember that being a tough decision back in 1990 when we ran out of blank tapes.

They kid because they care.

I watched it for the first time Sunday. Forster was so good. And the LoJack bit was hilarious.

damn somehow I missed that Robert Forster passed away back in October. Bummer.

he was great. loved him in Jackie Brown too.

yeah i don't even know what record means any more???

this is a streaming movie where the heck would you record it from?

ahhhhaaaa i found it.... AMC had a BB marathon leading up to BCS season 5 premier and EC was part of it Sunday night:

https://www.thewrap.com/amc-el-camino-premiere-breaking-abd/

So if you don't have Netflix you had to wait until then.

PS - I guess the OP expected more or most to have seen it Sunday and not back in October.

He passed away the day the movie was released on Netflix IIRC.

He didn't die. He decided to fake his death and live the quiet life in NH under a new name

I made it about halfway through, and felt like it was dragging.

Does it get better?

ahhhhaaaa i found it.... AMC had a BB marathon leading up to BCS final season premier and EC was part of it Sunday night:

This isnt the final season of BCS.

oh ok.... wow i thought it was. if I recall that was the original plan like BB was although they kinda split season 5 into 2 parts for a total of 62 episodes.

but now i see they officially renewed BCS for a 6th season next year and say it is now the final season. that would get it to 60 episodes if it stays at 10 per season for season 6 also.

cool

Yeah, original BB was 62 and right around that is what they were aiming for with BCS. So ending in season 6 after 60-62 total is how it will land

I've never understood the point of labeling the last 2 seasons of BB as Season 5 A and B, instead of just Seasons 5 and 6.

They didn't even film them together, they were filmed separately like two regular seasons.

i think it had to do with them being 8 episodes each and not feeling like that comprised a full season. S2-4 were 13 episodes each. although S1 was 7 but that was before it caught on of course.

Apparently it had to do with the negotiations between AMC and Sony. AMC wanted just one more shortened season, and Sony started shopping it around until they agreed to do a "longer" season. Hence why Vince asked to split it into 2 parts.

The fact that the show was nearly cancelled after S3, and then they still had to fight to get more episodes in the last season, is pretty ridiculous, even after all the critical acclaim. Jesus Marie! (AMC)

I enjoyed el camino. It didnt really add anything to the BrBa story but it was really fun to be able to revisit that world again, especially with it being almost 2yrs btwn BCS seasons.

As previously mentioned, all scenes with Forster were great.

It was fun to be in that world again, but the movie was pretty pointless.

How was it pointless? It completed the story of one of the two main characters of the show.

This. It's no more pointless than Better Call Saul.

I guess I felt like the ending for BB was good enough, and I was fine with assuming what became of Jessie. Being a fan of origin stories, I was always going to be naturally drawn into BCS without question, but I can see how one would argue that they are similar.

I'm sure it had something to do with how many original series AMC could carry at one time, and they had Mad Men bringing all the critical praise and awards as their "smart" show.

Imo El Camino was not awesome or amazing or anything but its definitely worth the watch if you're a BB feen. Its solid and a fun watch.

Agree with Orlando. It was a fun ride and good to see more resolution for Jesse. It had some issues, but I didn't have trouble looking past them. Honestly, there are a lot of aspects of BB where good old day syndrome has set in to glorify everything about it, when in reality it had issues of its own at times. We just dont put it under the microscope that new shows receive

S1 was only 7 episodes because of the writers' strike.
