Has anyone caught the first two episodes. All of the commercials and trailers run during Better Call Saul. They have me intrigued, but I can't come close to figuring out what the plot of this show is supposed to be about.

Any thumbs up or thumbs down so far?

I watched the first episode, but I haven't tuned in since. Seemed kinda weird.

Could you tell what it was about? Would you describe it as science fiction? Is it some sort of paranormal show, or time travel, or nothing close to any of that?

From the previews, I can't even tell what genre of show it is.

Per wiki:

Quote:

The series, set in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, follows "a group of ordinary people who stumble onto a puzzle hiding just behind the veil of everyday life. They will come to find that the mystery winds far deeper than they ever imagined.

Main[edit]
 • Jason Segel as Peter, an office worker struggling to find meaning in his life
 • Andre Benjamin as Fredwynn, an intelligent yet paranoid man dedicated to figuring out the truth
 • Eve Lindley as Simone, a trans woman seeking an escape from her feelings of isolation
 • Richard E. Grant as Octavio Coleman, esq., the mysterious head of the Jejune Institute
 • Sally Field as Janice Foster, an optimistic empty-nester trying to reclaim her sense of identity
Recurring[edit]
 • Tara Lynne Barr as Young Janice[4]

still pretty vague, but Jason Segel is the creator so I'll give it a shot eventually.

Worked out pretty well the last time somebody tried this:

Even from the Wiki summary, I have no clue. I have the first two on DVR, and it at least seems to be something we haven't seen before. So I guess I'll eventually give it a shot.

edit: read the ringer article. Makes me a little less interested, but I'll still give it shot.

I watched the first two episodes and had to look up what in the world this show is about.

Based on...
"The Institute is a 2013 documentary film directed by Spencer McCall reconstructing the story of the "Jejune Institute", an alternate reality game set in San Francisco, through interviews with the participants and the creators. The game was produced in 2008 by Oakland-based artist Jeff Hull. Over the course of three years, it enrolled more than 10,000 players who, responding to eccentric flyers plastered all over the city, started the game by receiving their "induction" at the fake headquarters of the Institute, located in an office building in San Francisco's Financial District."

Same here.

It was so weird, that it made me curious at first...but It didnt go anywhere. If you're going to confuse the viewer, at least make me care about the characters, or do something to make me interested in the journey/game their wrapped up in. But it was just one odd scene after another.

I saw the second episode was going to focus on the other character, and I was out. Im not interested enough to go backwards with the story, and didnt like the character.

I started a thread on this show weeks ago and was the only one responding so I let it die. Especially after I saw the bad user reviews, which I now can see were largely because of the casting. If not for that, I would also be much more engaged in the show, though I do like it. Not sure why Hollywood continues to think that this is what the public wants to see.
