How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm trying to decide where to start on my quarantine movie marathon. I'm in a crappy 80's adventure/sci-fi mood.

Krull came out in '83, King Solomon's Mines came out in '85 (I think). Go in release date order.

edit - if you're seriously doing crappy '80s sci-fi/adventure, you probably should start in 1980 with movies like Saturn 3, Battle Beyond the Stars, and Flash Gordon (that one is not a good movie although it is a favorite from the era).

Of those two, I would go Krull.

THE GLAIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus, you cannot overlook falling in love with Lysette Anthony as a 9-year-old in 1983, then seeing her in the buff on Cinemax in your 20s.

I'm confused: you are doing a crappy 80's movie viewing and you included Krull?

Shouldn't that be included in an Awesome 80's movie viewing?

Beastmaster
Ator, the Fighting Eagle
Hawk the Slayer
Time Bandits

BEASTMASTER !!! Now we're talking

And, TIME BANDITS belongs no where on a 'crappy movies' list. That's some classic cinema there.

I have no idea how many times I watched Krull growing up but it was a LOT!!!

Is it on Netflix? Prime?

I rewatched Conan the other day and it's still awesome. How have there not been 5-10 Conan movies? There's a ton of comic backstory to rely on. It seems like a simple formula: big dude with a big sword on a quest for riches and/or revenge, throw in some magic, a giant beast, and some nudity and you're all set.

I remember seeing Krull at the cinema when I was 8. It opened about a week or two after my birthday.

Of those two, King Solomon's Mines

Dragonslayer
Time Bandits
The Dark Crystal
The Sword and the Sorcerer
Conan the Destroyer
Ladyhawke
Labyrinth
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Willow

Been a very long time since I've watched either The Sword and the Sorcerer or Willow so they may have not aged well. Of those I listed above, Dragonslayer and Ladyhawke are your best bets. If you go with Conan, make sure it is the Destroyer, the Barbarian sucked.

Edit: Oops missed the crappy modifier. Still the above is a solid list of '80s fantasy movies.

I rewatched Willow a month or two ago on Disney+, still great. Val Kilmer is awesome. Great bad guy in the skull mask dude. The effects stood up surprisingly well.

Conan the Barbarian was the good one. Destroyer was too campy

How can Legend (1985 - Tom Cruise) not be on this list? After watching that you'll wish you had coronavirus!

It might have been all about expectations going in but I remember being vastly disappointed in Barbarian and thought Destroyer was fun..

Did you miss this part of my statement? It is possible to really enjoy an otherwise bad movie, which Flash Gordon definitely is. The movie and the score are enjoyable. But it is quite a campy movie, especially in a year when The Empire Strikes Back was released. Let's take the Hawkman prince, portrayed by Brian Blessed. He was a fun character, and he made such an impression on me at when he showed up as the fat Jar Jar in The Phantom Menace, I could not help but see the Hawkman in face and his voice was unmistakable. Similarly, when Timothy Dalton first showed his face at Gibraltar as 007, I still saw him as Prince Baron. It was a fun bad movie. If you still want to consider me as the worst poster ever, knock yourself out; I'll go right along enjoying what I consider bad movies.

Willow holds up better than almost any movie I can remember. The CGI could be better but the story, characters and casting are near perfect.

Another one that Queen did that should be on this list - Highlander.

Ladyhawke -- tried watching that a few years ago and it has not aged well at all. The 80s era synth soundtrack was downright cringe-worthy. Throw in a completely updated soundtrack and salvage this movie.
