Has anyone here checked out Afterlife on Netflix?

It's a brilliant comedy by Ricky Gervais about a man who's wife died and how he deals with it. It's deeply funny, smart and unique.

Here are some clips that i could post without getting the ban hammer

Yes, season 1 was really good. Looking forward to season 2 in a few weeks.

I had started a thread when it came out with limited fanfare here, but had forgotten it's back soon.

He doesn't exactly make Hollywood fans feel warm and fuzzy after his most recent beat down.

Is that supposed to be an insult?

Are you talking about his brilliant opening at the golden globes?

Season 2 is good, especially the last two episodes which are really well done. Renewed for season 3.

I loved season 1.

Season 2 - I'm only a few episodes in, but it's been somewhat disappointing so far. Of course, it's realistic for him to become depressed again, but the story should at least acknowledge the progress that he made in season 1, which ended on a positive note.

Watching season 1 for the first time. Definitely different than anything else out there. It could have been about a guy who has hilarious, I-don't-care escapades after his wife dies. I could imagine Will Ferrell or Jim Carey squeezing every ounce of comedic brilliance out of it.

Instead, you feel his pain while he tries to lift himself up, make it day by day, and find humor in a truly sad situation. Depressing really, and I don't think I would continue watching if I hadn't started to care.

'She'll only be scarred for 7% of her life...'. There's so many great lines in just the first two episodes.

Its not a good comparison overall, but it somewhat reminded me of another show I watched while stuck at home more the past few months - *****t's Creek - in that while funny I find myself reacting more to the more touching scenes. Now, Afterlife in my opinion is much more well done than *****t's Creek, and the funny parts are funnier and the touching/serious parts more touching/serious to me. But in a general sense I found both series I went in expecting comedy and came away remembering the drama moments a bit more.

Could just be that I am getting older and it's due to low T and thoughts of mortality?

What do you get when you cross a disabled octopus with my ex-wife?!

Yes, I do remember some of the funny bits.
