Any thoughts on this show?

The football scenes are pretty weak, even by California HS standards, and they weave a lot of drama around the central plot, but the writing is very solid. Some of it is typical HS faux drama along with current hot topic issues of the day, but it's written well enough to not come off ham-fisted.

Currently in S2. Anyone else watching?

It's about 90% 90210 with a small very cheesy dash of Boyz in the Hood and FNL. It's on CW for a reason. I would expect TA to almost universally hate it. Football scenes are ridiculously unbelievable and every plotline has probably been done before on another teen soap.

That said, I've seen every episode... it's on my treadmill rotation. I am oddly drawn into it and invested in a lot of the characters. And until this post I've admitted this to no one.

Just finished S2.

Did not realize the assistant coach at Beverly, Coach Davis, is Spencer Paysinger, the real life inspiration for the show.

Sounds about right. But I am a sucker for those cliffhanger endings.

That article is pretty funny about Spencer's football moves. I think what bothers me the most about the football scenes is that it appears there are about 20ish guys max on this football team. I guess 10 starters and Spencer then plays both ways. The locker room and weight room look ridiculous. Every time you see someone lifting (which is about every other episode)...they're alone off-hours for some contrived reason since the weight room is about 100 sq ft. and 4 stations.

Can't wait for S3!
