So I don't listen to much non-english language music but sometimes I come across one that stirs me even though I have no idea WTH they are saying. My favorite of these I think is from Kaleo

God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

We sing Hallelujah! The Lamb has overcome!

This is a song called Call of the Mountains that Eluveitie performs in multiple languages. I believe this one is "Swiss German"

Why does my brain think I should be able to understand what he is saying?? Is it English that I am not hearing correctly or not?

That's the intent, actually. From Wikipedia:

Quote:

The song is intended to sound to its Italian audience as if it is sung in English spoken with an American accent, vaguely reminiscent of Bob Dylan; however, the lyrics are deliberately unintelligible gibberish with the exception of the words "all right".[1] Celentano's intention with the song was not to create a humorous novelty song but to explore communication barriers. "Ever since I started singing, I was very influenced by American music and everything Americans did. So at a certain point, because I like American slangwhich, for a singer, is much easier to sing than ItalianI thought that I would write a song which would only have as its theme the inability to communicate. And to do this, I had to write a song where the lyrics didn't mean anything."[2]
