I remember this cool Reddit thread of clips of artists realizing they made it live. When the audience would start singing their sons back for the first time or when they first tour a foreign country and find they have fans.

My answer would be Prince at the Super Bowl.

Don't be mad you made a terribad comparison. A crappy phone video from a major concert would be similar to a crappy phone video from the stands of an NFL game. You tried to make the point that phone videos suck compared to professionally filmed concert video and tripped on your own feet with the pop warner part.

That was definitely one of the first shows to come to mind. A small Canadian club and Stevie was ON FIRE that night. Simply unbelievable.

Springsteen in Barcelona has always stuck with me. Was around 2003, old enough to play more nuanced versions of their songs, young enough to still have the energy to really go. And there's something super cool about going half way Aron d the world to an country that doesn't speak English and still having everyone know all the words.

Jimi Plays Monterey

Jimi Hendrix debut concert in America. Had not released an album in the US yet. But nobody wanted to follow Hendrix based on his reputation and showmanship. Even the Who decided to go on before Hendrix so he basically headlined. Jimi pulls out all the stops. If you want to know where SRV got his tricks from then watch this video from 1967.
I watched it last week and it still blows me away.

Video is pretty tame until about 3:30 in, when Prince pops up and absolutely RIPS a guitar solo.

Its got 84-million views. Worth a watch.

Another one that starts out slow until the dude absolutely RIPS some of the greatest blues guitar in history.

It sounds like a mix of Duane Allman and Hendrix.
