Me too. Even dumbass 13-year-old me was like," Yeah, that was a bad movie." That's saying something from a teenager at the time who legitimately thought Independence Day was the greatest film ever made.

I vividly recall watching this movie in the theater with a good buddy of mine. For years after, we were scared to go to films or watch Aggie football together because we believed the combo of us and something we were highly anticipating equaled disaster.

George Clooney: "Joel is very funny because he'd be like OK, George, remember, your parents are dead, you have nothing to live for, and action!""

Akiva Goldman: "What got lost in 'Batman & Robin' is the emotions aren't real. The worst thing to do with a serious comic book is to make it a cartoon. I'm still answering for that movie with some people."

Kevin Feige: "That may be the most important comic-book movie ever made. It was so bad that it demanded a new way of doing things. It created the opportunity to do 'X-Men' and 'Spider-Man,' adaptations that respected the source material and adaptations that were not campy."



Two things that really blow my mind - and I saw it opening weekend as well.

1) Alicia Silverstone is supposed to be Alfred's niece. The actor who played Alfred was born in 1916. OLDER THAN MY GRANDPARENTS. Alicia Silverstone was born in 1976 YOUNGER THAN ME. Does not compute.
2) Somehow a movie featuring Vendela, Alicia Silverstone, Uma Thurman, Vivica A. Fox , and Elle McPherson is unwatchable.

The sad thing is, Joel Schumacher's name is irrevocably linked to his two God-awful Batman movies.

And the man made great movies like the Lost Boys, Flatliners, the Client, A Time to Kill, the underrated Phone Booth and the forgotten, but brilliant Falling Down.

The man made the Lost Boys and Falling Down and yet just hearing his name sends images of Bat Puns and Bat Crotch through my brain....
