Just got the email. Can't say I'm surprised.

Between this and South by Southwest 2020, around a half billion dollar + economic impact to Austin and area is lost. DOn't blame them for cancelling either, just stinks to note as many small businesses get impacted - and employment options gone.

I live in Austin, and I knew ACL was going to be cancelled. I went to ACL in Weekend Two of 2018 and Weekend One of 2019 for one day each. After South by Southwest was cancelled, Rodeo Austin said they would continue as planned on 3/6, but canceled six days later. I understand that public health and safety is the top priority, but these canceled events have gut punched many businesses, especially small businesses.

Yeah totally get it. Big crowds just can't go down right now.

The crazy part of it is just how unknown the future is. We have no idea how the fall, winter or even next year will look at this point. Just crazy times.

These are definitely unprecedented times, and there's no guarantee that large crowd events will be allowed to take place in 2021. It might take until 2022 or later for that to happen. I have gone to Chilifest every year from 2014 to 2019. I was planning on going again this past April until it got cancelled. I am hoping for Chilifest 2021, but I won't be surprised if it gets cancelled again next year.

Well this sucks. I've been involved w/ ACL for about 8 years working with the bars. I'm not surprised but I cannot respect our leadership anymore. No one in a leadership position will mention protests contributing to this "uptick". I'd be happy if they'd just acknowledge it. It's not political, it's factual.

I have too many friends making "more" than my staff coasting off IUI. I also know some businesses paying employees but not logging their hours worked so they can double dip IUI & PPP.

Honestly, why is that important. Leadership has failed us all around regardless of what side of the fence you find yourself on. It's all probably some combination of protests, reopening too soon, and everything in between.

Does some dumb ass elected official acknowledging an uptick source bring back ACL? Or SXSW? Or the Houston rodeo? All of their failures ****ed the rest of us normals.

Don't want to get political on an Entertainment board post, but I don't see why you kept posting after your third sentence. This whole things sucks.

Just venting. Some are working while a good friend of mine just texted saying he just smoked his 3rd bowl of the day. It's 12:18 PM. He's on IUI. Sorry if I'm upset.

Tract Lives Matter!

Unfortunate, but far from unexpected. Concerts are even worse than sporting events in terms of spacing, so I can't imagine you see something like this before you see any of the big ones back at half capacity at the least.

At least we won't have to see G. Love and Special Sauce again....
