It's interesting because Tarantino liked to repurpose Morricone's older works, but Morricone only agreed to do Hateful Eight if he could do something completely different and new. He spent a career trying not to be, "The spaghetti western guy," and didn't want the score to be a rehash or leftovers of his earlier works on westerns. Tarantino really wanted him and no one else and basically let him do whatever he wanted. It's an interesting concept to see someone with Tarantino's level of vision give such freedom on how to bring it to life to someone else. Speaks a lot to how much he respected Morricone and hisworkart.
