Just saw this dropped on Netflix, this season we're at Laney College in Oakland.

Firing up episode 1...

Pretty good so far. I really like the head coach, esp over the past seasons. Seems like a genuinely good guy, who cares about his players.

Finished it yesterday and thought it was good but not as good as 1 and 3. Other than Dior, there just weren't any players that really caught my attention.

The constant wining from RJ was tiresome. Instead of Coach steadily yelling at him about going outside he should have just said, You're trying to be Moss but you need to be Welker.

Agree with above two post.

Team not that talented at all and not exactly "last chance" for most of these guys, more just that it was the local community college that they are playing for. Few interesting story lines but nothing crazy.

weakest season by far imo. Some more redeemable characters but there just wasn't much to it.

The other thing that hurt this season IMO is lack of likable characters. Dior was awesome, but I didn't care for the others. Nu'u was cool to see, but gave 0 effort in the classroom. The other seasons had teachers/profs that seemed to care about the student athletes, these clearly held a grudge against them calling them "PPs" to the class. Season 4 made a pretty strong argument that a lot of JUCOs wouldn't exist at all without athletics. Laney isn't that same situation, but the teachers seemed to almost root against them.

Totally different vibe than previous seasons. Coach is first one to have redeeming qualities than previous coaches. Only the Dior story line is worth investing in so far - 4 episodes in. There is no Ms. Brittney Wagner and no campus living which all made previous seasons more interesting. Should've released it in April-May when we had no sports.

Just finished watching it. Worst season so far.

Only interesting guys were Dior and Nu'u. Rejzhon was your typical loudmouth jock. RJ was whiny and thinks too highly of himself. You're playing for Laney College.

And episode 7 was straight up ass. I don't care about the gentrification of Oakland.

That's Real Talk no doubt

Most elite HS programs in Texas would have whooped them. They had 1 D1 guy on the team.

I guess I'm going to be the contrarian and state that I liked this season.

It was a different vibe because the the previous seasons were all full of mercenaries.
The common theme of every season from 1-4 was some kids from inner city Florida/Texas/wherever go to some small town in the middle of nowhere and spend the whole season talking about how much the town sucks.

This season was different because it was made up of local kids. Those players are going to have different issues than guys that move across the country to play at a JUCO

I don't want to see the same thing every season.

The Head Coach was the first coach in this series that had redeemable qualities, and was not a complete jackass.

Could you do any better?

If you've scored a touchdown in a game past high school then I take that back.

The only way you can play football past the high school level is if you think highly of yourself.
Most athletes have big egos, because that sort of self belief is necessary to be able to compete at that level.

Rejzhon Wright family was comedy gold every time they were on camera. I was dying at the level of chit talk they tossed around to each other.

No I can't. But I don't go around saying I'm a badass, either.

I'm a few eps in and I'm enjoying this season so far too. It is a different feel than the other seasons, overall these kids have to make a serious effort just to get to school to play and seem to just have a different mindset.

The coach seems like a genuinely good guy too, bit of a hard ass but really cares about his players and realizes this is how he can have the biggest impact. Nice to see on this show for a change.

Not much in the way of drama but I appreciated watching a season where the coach wasn't a complete ****bag.

I think the commuter campus took away from things a bit and I could have certainly done without all of the time dedicated to the gentrification of Oakland.

Looking forward to future seasons.

This is actually the last season Last Chance U will focus on football.

The next few seasons will cover JUCO basketball.

I really liked this season. This team obviously wasn't in the same league as they other seasons, but it was nice to see a coach that actually seemed to care about the players. Also, the players themselves seemed to be decent human beings.

The house that RJ lived in was the creepiest/funniest thing ever on LCU.

Really liked the Dior story line.

Loved the coach when he recognized that Dior was having an anxiety attack. Not many football coaches would be able to spot that.

Coach Beamn was awesome. Dior gives me hope about the future generation. He did what he had to. Didn't have a sense of entitlement at all.
I thought the season was pretty average though. WAAAAY too much filler. Gentrification?! GTFO here with that crap.

If Hawaii doesn't work out for him, I would love to have Dior walk on at A&M. Good pub for us and he would be a great locker room guy. Cost of living much cheaper much cheaper in CS vs Hawaii!

Plus we've had former players that are homeless as well, so we know it can be done.

Don't think it's been mentioned yet, but I thought it was really cool to hear one of the players talk about how cool it would be to play for Colorado because they "get to play at Texas A&M".

I really enjoyed this season. The head coach is an awesome guy and Dior is a tough young dude.

RJ's family situation was seriously messed up! I thought he was actually doing ok for such a horrible past- although he clearly had issues thinking he didn't need to be coached.

One thing I had to look up was who was Angela Davis....coach said he met his wife after hearing her speak.
