Not gonna lie, The movie scared the **** out of me back in the day.

America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive.

I find that movie hilarious. My friend and I saw it in the theater when it came out and early on Sam Neil, freaking Sam Neil, was walking around shirtless and looked like he had taken a ripped off 30 pushups and then taken a deep breathbefore each take, just cracked us up and it devolved from there. Every cheesy line and jump scare had us laughing the entire movie.

I just watched a trailer and it is indeed a little cheesy looking and looks like trash.

But I watched it when I was 9 years old.

I still love it.

It went from being one of the more underrated horror flicks to one of the more overrated horror flicks -- complete with the lore of "the uncut version that was lost in a disaster".

It's pretty well acted and has some scary scenes... very much that "Paul Anderson" movie where it feels somewhat like a music video or video game. But I think the Lovecraftian-vibe of the ship that has "seen things the human mind shouldn't see" will always probably make it remembered better than it really was.

Just read a retrospective on the Ringer about event horizon.

1) I had no idea that critics hated it

2) it is the scariest movie I've ever seen in a theater, and undeniably a masterpiece

Not sure I need 3 seasons of it though. It's a 90 minute movie with a cool premise. I bit thin for a series if you already know the ending

Well aren't you and your buddy made of steel. This was and still is the scariest movie I've ever seen. And I've seen all the top scare ones. But this one freaked me the eff out

Better 90s Sam Niell horror movie: Event Horizon or In the Mouth of Madness?

I'd go itMoM personally but liked both movies as a teen.

They are both pretty darn similar in re-watchability, concept of "seeing other dark worlds", some hokey CGI and anti-climatic "final boss fights".

Mouth of Madness gets my nod for the score and the "everything has gone to ****" ending (rather than Event Horizon teasing it and then giving the "happy" ending).

Good movie, but I don't see how this makes for a series. Nevertheless, I'm sure I'll watch.

As for how scary it is, I'd say that depends on your age when you watched it that first time. I was in my 30s, so I didn't see it as a particularly scary film. It was creepy to me but nothing that caused me to lose any sleep. I did find a lot of similarities between Event Horizon and Alien, however, and that latter scared the ever living crap out of me - but I was 12 when I first saw it.

People must be trying to trick other people into watching Event Horizon..."Scariest Movie Ever" etc

That movie flat out stinks, boring and not scary at all (unless you are 9 apparently).

Ugh what a turd.
