RIP. Saw several Van Halen shows with both DLR and Sammy. Incredible guitar virtuoso.

Saw them on this tour 8 years ago. Kool and the Gang opened up for them in San Antonio.

This was my favorite album. Well made, well produced, and Eddie at his best.

RIP

A true virtuoso.

Influences went beyond music.

Listen to the 3 songs above and tell me he wasn't at his peak....

Was gonna say the same thing. Don't ever wait to go see your idols in concert - if there's an artist on your bucket list when Corona is over go see them. Even if it is for the 10th time.

Happened to me with Tom Petty, thought I'd catch him next time around. Dead a few months later.

Another rock great gone, those from that era are growing fewer and fewer in number.

I got to see Van Halen 7 times. Saw them last in 2012 and missed the 2015 tour figuring I'd see them again on a 40th anniversary tour. My favorite band and guitarist. Wish I had went in 2015.

Many VH songs can trigger some great memory from junior high - college and beyond. Summer music, friends houses, pre-game, etc.

I don't know how many of my book covers and doodles had sketches of the logo on it. Too many. That and the Metallica logo.

Well Sh&t. I grew up with my Grandparents and my Grandpa had a country music band. (Actually played for Ray Price for a short while). He played the fiddle. I always loved the mornful sounds that fiddle could make as he practiced. I first heard that in EVH's guitar playing and was hooked. I had my grandpa listen to his solo's and he was amazed someone could to that with a guitar, he was probably 55 at the time!

I saw him 5 times in all incarnations of VH to include Cheron. He was the constant and carried the show.

RIP. We lost a true virtuoso with the guitar.

EVH has been in bad shape for years. Hard living will catch up to you. I saw them once, in 1980. A great show.

First show I ever saw, VH at the Sam Houston Coliseum, in 1980. 15th row. Mind blown. Saw pretty much ever tour thereafter.

He was the greatest.

Hey played the riffs in the VH songs that were the soundtrack of my HS years ( very early 80s). Saw VH twice. Unbelievable guitarist.

RIP

My grandparent / VH story is just a bit different than yours. My teenage self and my younger brother are watching MTV in the back room at my grandparents house when my grandma (WWII army nurse who passed earlier this year at 100) walks in and stares at the TV as the video for Jump was playing. As the DLR stage antics with the microphone stand continue, she turns to me and says "Why's he rubbing his butt on that pole?"

I guess if I remember it 35 years later, that line will probably stick with me for the rest of my life. Anyway, 2020 sucks and RIP EVH.

I guess that is why I am really a Van Hagar guy at the end of the day. Dave was always too over the top for me. Sammy could and still can just sit up there and sing his ass off. (As well as play the guitar) Saw Sam last year and he still has it for a 70 year old man.

I hope EVH made his peace with Michael Anthony before he past. Mike got the raw end of the VH deal.

So wild, yet in control.

Loose, yet energetic.

Frenzied, yet articulate and smooth.

Sitting at the Cow Hop hungover one Sunday in 1978. Manager asks us if we minded if he played a new album on the PA system. We said sure, just turn it up! From the opening song we knew they'd be great
"I live my life like there's no tomorrow..."

RIP Eddie
