There is a new documentary on FX and Hulu about Britney Spears that does a really good job of explaining this whole conservatorship she's been under the last 12 years. Seeing all the clips of how the press and paparazzi went after her back in the early 2000's was just hearbreaking. After watching I feel like she deserves an apology from society.

I wish it had gone farther into what exactly happened that brought about the idea of the conservatorship in the first place. I know she had issues with her divorce and paparazzi, but that seems way extreme.

Oh, and that one pap they interviewed who basically defended all his actions is a complete POS. "She needed us and we needed her."

GTFO with that. She never needed you.

It wasn't only the medias gross behavior during that time period, but its also stark that she used to talk to news outlets all the time and now...when's the last time she did an interview? I do really believe she is being held captive like some sort of circus act. Its horrible.

That guy was like "She never gave us any indication that she didnt want us around" immediately after telling the story where she attacked his car with an umbrella. LOL

Only if she brings the snake from the MTV music awards "Slave for You" performance. By the way, would that song be allowed in today's climate?

The details surrounding getting the conservatorship in place are pretty suspect in general. It was placed specifically while she was being held under the 5150 (when she was removed from her home and placed under medical hold for a couple of days her well being) so she wouldn't be able to be present for the court hearing to defend herself. In the initial court hearing that placed her under the conservatorship they cited dementia as the reason for placing her under the conservatorship, which I can't possibly see how that is true with how much work she's done since then. The dementia claim has never come up in any court documents since, and its really suspect her own lawyers have never questioned it more.

There is another player in this named Lou Taylor who was thought to have specifically helped orchestrate getting the conservatorship in place. Lou suddenly became a business manager for Britney (put in place by her dad) and has been on the payroll from 2007-2020. Lou has also tried unsuccessfully to get Courtney Love and Lindsey Lohan under a conservatorship, and successfully got Amanda Bynes in one.

It gets more conspiracy theory from here. There has been speculation that the whole thing was a setup from the start. That her dad and his people set her up to get placed under the 5150 and were lying in wait with the conservatorship court order. I don't know if all that is true but, from what I've seen, the wheels were in motion to get the conservatorship in place already and they used the 5150 as an excuse to spring it on her.
