Was a huge huge fan of these growing up. Even had the cookbook because Jacques always made the food sound so good.

Back in school, these were the only books I read that weren't required reading. Will be checking this out for sure.

Awesome! Loved the books. Still have a couple of signed hardbacks from the series when I went to hear him speak one time.

I wish that I could remember a few more of the ins and outs and which ones were my favorite! I think I did a book report on Mossflower.

Loamhedge was the last one I read. I don't remember any of the titles that came after it.

Looking at the book list now and every time I think I remember one of my favorites, I see another title that brings back just as good of memories!

Excited to hear all the complaints from parents who showed this "rabbit cartoon" to their young children.

I was a big reader in school. I remember trying two or three times to get into this series, but couldn't. I'm excited to see it as a series to finally see what all the fuss was about.

Probably the same ones who thought "Watership Down" was a kid's movie, too.

Water ship Down has some scenes that disturb me as an adult. And I love the book.

Correct answer. Redwall, Mattimeo, and then the Martin the Warrior prequel were my pre teen LOTR.

Excited for this.

Ditto. Big Watership Down fan so tried to read these since kind of similar. I guess the similarity ends with animals as protagonists. I read the first book and it was ok and never really went back.

Will definitely check out the show though. It might be something I prefer on the screen rather than book anyway.

It's been so long since I've read them that I don't even remember what they were about, but I remember I loved them.

This is so awesome to hear

The Redwall series was hands down my favorite books as a kid

I met him at a tiny bookstore on FM 1960 in Houston when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. He read us part of one book and then signed books we brought/bought (I think Mariel of Redwall was his newest one at the time so that appears to have been 1991/1992). He was super excited that we coincidentally wore the same shirt.

I met him in Dallas as a kid and remember him being really nice.

I watched it at Halloween at the recommendation of a friend. I loved it... def weird but very captivating. Hard to explain why I enjoyed it so much, just kind of has an x-factor to it.

Look like Andrew Dice Clay could play him in the biopic.

I forget which book, but the fortress of Badgers fighting off the weasel hordes was freaking EPIC for a children's novel. I still remember that 20 years later.

Started to reread my decades old copy of Redwall. I first read it in 5th grade around '91/'92. A friend living in the UK mailed me his copy he had just finished reading. The UK version had an epic cover on it. I liked the US first edition
paperback cover a lot, but the UK one is way better IMO. My son is in 4th grade now, I'm trying to feel out if he's ready for it.

I have a young son now, hope to share this series with him one day. Can you post a follow up to see what age you think is good for it? 5th or so seems good to me, but who knows.

I'm reading Redwall to my 3rd grader right now. He's loving it. I have to change some of the hard words when I'm reading, but I think he is getting most of it.

There is a lot of vocabulary that I think will give young Americans some problems, while maybe young Brits not so much.

+1 for this...can not wait!

HOLT LUTRAAAAAA still gives me chills.

Pearls of Lutra and Lord Brocktree were a couple of my favorites.

3rd grade and up, these are a great book series for that age. It's written well, the stories are actually interesting (I compare it most to Lord of the Rings).

It will also have the benefit of developing their vocabulary, or teaching them to figure out words through the context they are used in. (not a big deal, but a nice random benefit)

Yea I think I read my first Redwall book in 4th grade. Thank you random classmate Gabriella for reading Redwall and having the book at school!

Thanks for the input.
