Background: I have a Fender acoustic that I got in 1992 as my very first guitar. I absolutely love the tone on this thing, but it has no electronics. A few years ago, someone gifted me a Dean electric/acoustic. Beautiful guitar, but terrible tone.

I'm getting back to playing in the worship band at my church. I used to play exclusively electric, but due to covid restrictions with the school where we meet, we are more stripped down and acoustic.

I'm looking at having an after-market pickup put into my Fender. The guy at the local guitar shop recommended the Fishman Matrix under-saddle pickup. Anybody have any experience with those, or any other recommendations?

Here is a rundown on good acoustic guitar pickups.

I had the K&K Pure Mini installed in my acoustic guitar and I think it sounds great and it's inexpensive. It is passive so you may still need a preamp DI to plug in through.

Hard recommendation here for the K&K Pure Mini. I put one in the acoustic I use for church and never looked back. It's passive, but the good part of that is that you never have to worry about batteries and it sounds great. I do run my acoustic thru a few pedals to dial tone, but recommend the K&K for good quality and affordability and maintenance-free playing.
