I didn't see this posted previously, so apologies if I missed it. And I'm not sure how I missed this announcement, which was apparently last month, but I heard about it on a Ringer podcast. Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller Bridge are starring in a Mr. and Mrs. Smith series on Amazon.

Can't say I really care to re-visit that story, but I am excited about those two teaming up for a project.

Don't get me wrong I will watch it just because of Glover but I am still confused but the decision. Seems like remaking "Fun with Dick and Jane" again would have been what I expected

For stuff like this, sometimes it's less about who the perfect couple/casting would be, and more about logistics. Both Waller-Bridge and Glover have massive overall deals with Amazon through their respective production companies, Glover's having been signed just a few weeks ago, for eight figures. So in this instance it's simply a matter of a studio teaming two of its biggest creative assets together under a name-brand property. Though, I'm sure there's a fun/fresh take there, or talents as selective as Waller-Bridge and Glover could have easily said no thanks and have done something else together or separate.

Filming seasons three and four back-to-back starting next month. Glover has a clause in his Amazon deal that allows him to continue making as many seasons of Atlanta as he wants for FX.

I would love for him to keep Atlanta going for years. Kind of like a real time Mad Men. Just randomly dropping in on these characters for a few weeks every year or two over the next few decades.

Would be incredible.

that was my take as well. i would not be interested in this content but for Waller-Bridge, Glover and Sloan being involved. and like you say in a later post, i'm sure they all three have plenty of other opportunities, so if they took this project, i trust it's because they have something in mind.
