Its groundbreaking in cinematography and editing for it's time.

Its pretty average compared to high quality films post 1980's. But that's the beauty of being a trailblazer...

It's like a lot of old movies if you watched them today. They probably don't seem that great, until you realize that all of the movies you watch and like today had their roots in many of the pioneering things a film like this did. When you are watching this one knowing that this is s the first time someone aged characters this way, or used light in such a stark and mood driven way, or told a nonlinear story, on and on, then you appreciate it more. And it does have one of the better endings all time.

I have seen Paddington 2, and it was surprisingly much better than expected.

Never seen citizen Kane but I know the rosebud spoiler so it's ruined anyhow.

I agree. I haven't seen Mank but the PBS documentary show The American Experience aired an episode "The Battle Over Citizen Kane" which helped me have a greater appreciation of the film. Still not a huge fan but if you like classic film it is worth watching. If not I'd probably pass.

Often repeated, but inaccurate. It is stated in the movie that Kane's butler was present in the room to hear him utter the famous line.

Watched Mank last night. Made me want to watch Citizen Kane again for the first time in years. I probably had little or no idea who WR Hearst was when I saw it. And now I don't remember all of the plot.

Not sure exactly how close to reality Mank is, but it was entertaining on its own.
