He was in one of the first movies I have a memory of seeing in a theater (King Kong) and in a couple of movies I watched over and over and over again when we got cable (Seems Like Old Times and the Incredible Shrinking Woman).

He was one of those actors that I remember seeing everywhere in my childhood.

Dang. He was great in So I Married an Axe Murderer. Seems like that character mirrored his true personality.

Grodin was 57 when he starred as a typical dad in Beethoven (1992). As a kid, I felt like I was watching my dad. Cannot believe how young he looked.

Charles Godin will always be Mickie Holliday in the Great Muppet Caper.

he was also fantastic in Seems Like Old Times and The Lonely Guy. His appearances on Carson were legendary as well.

Sigh, I love my family so much, but sometimes I wish it was 1981 again.

Really sad news, I just introduced my kids to the Beethoven movies last weekend.

He hosted SNL once back in the 70s. The whole episode was this bit about how Grodin spent the whole week sightseeing instead of going to rehearsal and he ruins all the sketches, culminating in Belushi losing his dang mind and going on an epic tirade. Maybe the most underrated episode of TV ever.

He owned both Midnight Run and Seems Like Old Times over people like DeNiro, Chase, and Hawn.

Midnight Run is on HBOMax. I'll have to do a rewatch this week, been years since I've seen it.

Also, both the Letterman and Carson clips remind me how much I miss old school late night tv.

The last thing I remember him from is when he played Louis C.K.'s doctor on his tv show on FX, he's one of the greatest at delivering dead pan lines in history.

Watch it. Fun movie. First thing my dad mentioned when I told him Grodin had died, followed by the Letterman memories.

The 2 movies that immediately came to mind for me were Midnight Run and The Lonely Guy, although I don't think I've seen the latter in 20 years. Solid character actor.

That Carson clip took me down a great rabbit hole -- Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Frank. Frank and Dean always showed up with some booze and a heater.

One of the more underrated films out there and one of my favorites watching it as a kid. The rapport between Grodin and Cannon is gold, especially when they turn on each other at the end.

Came here to post this! I can't believe he was 46+ when he was in The Great Muppet Caper!

Can we just go back 30 years and have a redo?
