I wonder if they'll be buying more stuff as a hedge against the dollar's decline.

Out of all the classics that MGM owns like Rocky or Singing in the Rain, why is Shark Tank in the same headline as Bond?

Maybe because those are still generating new content? Although it seems like they are still coming out with a new rocky/creed movie every couple of years. Idk.

I hope this means that Brad Wright's new series he has been working on has a shot of seeing the light of day but at this point I figure Amazon is more likely to **** things up.

Well, considering how well Amazon did in revitalizing The Expanse, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on all things sci-fi.

In the sense that they can control how and when new content is released overseas, perhaps. They essentially bought the upside potential of quality content in the theatrical window and can determine when that content arrives on their streaming platform.

Whenever I watch Wall-E, I mentally replace Buy n Large with Amazon.

Amazon was just the distributor. Alcon produced the show for Syfy then when Syfy opted not to renew after S3, Alcon sold the distribution rights to Amazon. Amazon now carries a producer credit as well but really doesn't have much to do with the show other than airing.

Does the deal include the MGM grand in Vegas? Not sure if the two are connected.

Would be funny if Amazon is in the gambling business, now.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

Amazon has done right by the Expanse.

Edit: saw post about Alcon but still I am hopeful

Expanse is also (largely) following source material, this will not be the case with any Stargate property they produce.

I'm not writing it off, but if they do not let Brad Wright create his vision for the property I'm probably going to have some major hesitations.

I don't think there's any connection other than the name at this point. It's a separate company.

That's not what I said at all, but I imagine most people that want Stargate to return would like for the people responsible for the previous 3 series to return, yes.

Because they were describing MGM as both a Movie and TV enterprise. So they listed a movie and a TV show that most people will recognize. Weird thing to get angry about....

Wasn't getting angry. Mainly curious if Shark Tank had that big of a following to be in the same sentence as Bond movies.

Except Amazon does NOT get Singing in the Rain, nor Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind nor anything else MGM pre-1986. That catalog was purchased by Ted Turner and is now part of WarnerMedia/AT&T
