I got HBO Max free for a year and have been trying to burn through all these old shows I never previously had a chance to watch.

Maybe I am easily amused, but this is one of the funniest shows I think I've ever watched. In Season 4 right now and it's hilarious. To me, the guy who steals the show is Kevin Dunn, playing Chief of Staff Ben Cafferty. They gave him so many fantastic lines:

  • "Well that's a wire brush to my ****ing hemorrhoids!"
  • "Uber is for people too lazy to learn how to drive drunk"
  • "Dan and Amy, they're getting paid cash out of the campaign fund to bring down the bill. There, you've been blooded. Now join the circle jerk and grab a dick"
  • "This isn't a choice, like my diet. This is a necessity, like my drinking!"

That line stuck with me for a while. Hilarious.

Great show. Is there anything out right now that approaches it?

I love Furlong and Will.

"It's not going to be easy with this big gangly pissflap who moves like hey, what do you move like?" "I move as slowly as a Mississippi detective investigating the murder of a young black man, sir."

absolutely loved this show. wish i could see it again for the first time.

i used to watch with closed captioning on because there are so many great, quick lines that i think my brain would go on cruise control and take them for granted. amazing writing.

The scene with Jonah in the hospital after being circumsized may be the funniest thing I have ever seen.

It is according to Washington insiders the most accurate show about DC politicians ever made.

My wife and I started binging this show and it was so great. Then we had a child and haven't been able to circle back around to catch up...

We'll probably have to start over at this point.

It was great when Silicon Valley and VEEP came on back to back after either GoT or Westworld. Awesome 2 hour block of TV that would replay two more times later that night.

Loved the show. Also loved how they made an extremely hilarious political show... and kept it bipartisan. They make everyone look like garbage and never spend time force-feeding us some partisan agenda. Quite amazing they were able to do that.

Yeah, but you have to keep in mind how Season 7 came to be. It was an abbreviated wrap-up season just to tie up the storylines as fast as possible following Julia Louis Dryfus' cancer diagnosis. It was that, or just let the show end with all the loose ends never being tied up. They did the best they could under the circumstances. And it was definitely better than nothing.

Just an incredible show and ensemble. The cynic in me hopes that politics in real life is closer to Veep than House of Cards. I think it probably is and that makes it even better.

All true except Jonah is steals the show in really every episode he's in followed by Richard.

Jonah is one of the funniest characters in TV that I can remember.

In a weird way.. someone could argue that season 7 also defined the show as it shows Jonah accession. He goes from staffer to congressman and finally VEEP. Ergo the show was really always about him and not Julia Louis Dryfus.

If you liked Veep, I'd recommend The Thick of It and In the Loop on Hulu. Same writer.

In the Loop is my favorite comedy film of all time.
