Popular Crime by Bill James (the baseball guy) is really good. He's a true crime buff and the book is essentially a compilation of book reports of all the various true crime books he has read. From Lizzie Borden to OJ.

I like Cold Justice despite Kelly Siegler because I know one of the consultants for it. He wouldn't be involved in that show if it were a joke.

Also getting into Dan Abrams's Law & Crime network.

Second for All Crime No Cattle podcast.

"In Plain Sight" by Kathryn Casey (really, all of Casey's books are great. They're also all about Texas crimes)

"Eleven Days in Hell" by William Harper is about the eleven-day hostage situation at the Huntsville Unit in 1974.

For True Crime Podcasts give Sword and Scale a try. There have been some fantastic episodes that often include police interrogation and 911 tapes.

I've been obsessed with this case for over a year now. For so many reasons. Tragic, baffling etc but the main reason is that I can't figure out law enforcement's handling of this thing. Seems like they've gone too far with certain things (like the weird and really unfounded press conferences) while also withholding certain things unnecessarily - especially now that so much time has passed.

I liked this one for a good while, but the host's approach/demeanor finally became a turn-off for me.

Thanks for the Reco on All Crime No Cattle. I really like more in depth episodes than 30 minute summaries, but kind of tire out of those that are exceedingly long and dont really go anywhere, so an hour or two and a two parter every once and awhile is nice for long drives.

The Orange Tree is really good for those who havent heard it. Really well done. About the college student murdered on West Campus in Austin in the mid-2000s. Guy wakes up after being black out drunk and finds a dead body in his bathroom.

Here's a brief synopsis (spoiler-free) i wrote a few months ago:

Heist on Netflix is great true crime for those that like true crime, but not murder.

Watched the first two part story about a man and woman who rob $3M from a security truck in Las Vegas and then go on the run. Well executed and a great story.

This one has a lot of input from Lori Vallow's eldest son. I don't recall if he participated in the Dateline or not, but it gives a lot more insight than I recall anything else I've seen so far.

Very captivating. Awful story.

If you guys are not subscribed to Law Talk with Mike on YouTube, you're missing out on some crazy court hearings. Most of it is pretty light hearted, but some of these people especially in Family Court are absolutely insane.
