Killed it BTW. If you have any interest at all and have access to anything left on their tour- it's eleventy billion times worth it. Just sayin.

Agreed. Just posted on the other Concerts 2021 thread how much I enjoyed revisiting SYMM all the way through.

The only issue I had was with Chris's phrasing because it was difficult to sing along. The bartender guy and the keyboard player were comical distractions but it was a fantastic show overall.

It was a fun show Wednesday in Dallas but it doesn't hold a candle to the Crowes shows of the past.

The Houston show last night was great, but it was the Chris and Rich Robinson Rock 'n' Roll Review more than a Black Crowes concert. Part of it is that SYMM is probably their most straight forward rock record. But don't go in expecting a 20-minute jam of "Wiser Time" or whatever.

Going tonite. Good to hear that it's still a great show despite firing all the unimportant original band members.

Do they play both of their hits that the band and many longtime fans are tired of but which most casual fans want to hear at a live show?

And yes, they do.

Do they have casual fans? I figured by now they're not really a walk up band or part of a summer festival tour; just diehard fans are going to go.

They absolutely have casual fans. That's why they are playing SYMM in it's entirety to get those fans to buy tickets. Their diehard fans would have them touring theaters that hold no more that 4-5K in most cities.

Last time I saw them, pre-hiatus, they didn't seem all that into it and the set sounded more like a laid back jam-band session. So I would be inclined to believe someone who said they sounded better than their last incarnation.

There's probably only about 10-15 albums that I like start to finish. SYMM is on that list.

Trying to remember the last few times I saw them and yeah, venues like Stubbs' outdoor stage seems to fit them. Also saw them at whitewater amphitheater. I'm a huge fan and what I've seen of the set list I like but I'm also super into the noodly jam band and random covers set lists too.

I just figured it was a big nostalgia money grab that got the brothers back together. Not all that shocked if the band tightens it up for the casuals and the paycheck. Also don't care, I'll go see them regardless.

I didn't say their "last" incarnation. I said "shows of the past" and most of those were significantly better than what I saw Wednesday night. That's not to say it was bad but they had better musicians in the past and they had the fire of a band that was still creating new music and not coasting of decades old successes.
