I am getting back into Vinyl, the sound is just amazing. I believe my first purchase will be The Eagles Greatest Hits, but what are some of your favorites on vinyl vs digital?

Al Green's "I'm Still in Love with You". Specifically side one. 1-5 is like the '27 Yankees batting order. Every song is elite and sounds like butter on vinyl. I think at least 300 rap songs have had their beats sample something from one of these songs. It's so perfect.

My favorite albums are my favorite albums regardless of the medium. But I have a pressing of Blizzard of Ozz that sounds ridiculous. I hear things I've never heard before when I spin that one, especially on my friend's top line setup. We even played it back to back with the FLAC files and the vinyl sounded better. Completely blown away.
I like to stick to the classics.

Play it on a system that supports quadraphonic sound with 4 speakers and turn it up. If you have only listened to that album in compressed formats, you will hear things you have never heard before.
One of the reasons I love vinyl is my ADD when it comes to listening to music. Vinyl lets me just start an album and letting it play.
Dark Side of the Moon should be recommendation #1.

Steely Dan's Aja is the best sounding vinyl I've heard.
Some of.my favorites are Scorpions albums, "Animal Magnetism" and "Blackout". Also just bought an original GnR "Lies" album. It doesn't sound very good but I love it!

Agree with these two posts. I've only been "back into vinyl" since I got to pick through my late dad's vinyl last November. Bought myself a cheap record player for Xmas. I've probably spent a few thousand dollars since then buying records. Started buying ones I found at Walmart and now have some choice vintage stores I go to regularly. When I travel for work I make sure to find all the records stores and gett anything I "have to have."
I've slowed down recently because I found I was buying albums and not listening to them. I'm catching up on my backlog now as we speak.
Have fun. Like I said earlier, I started buying the newer reissues from Walmart and now will mostly buy original pressing or second pressings of albums I want.

Thank you, I was getting madder and madder until I saw this. DSoTM should have been one of the first replies.
I started getting back into my vinyl collection with my son during Covid quarantine and reinvigorated me to the collection. I've added about 50 in the past 18 months. Now have about 560 albums. I enjoy going into the music room and listening to albums on Friday/Saturday nights. Before my son went off to college we designated Saturday nights for listening. Good times.

Same here -- started getting back into vinyl when going through my Dad's collection which dated back to the early 60's. Lots of big band and jazz, with Beatles sprinkled in. My own records from the 70's were in there too -- including soundtracks from Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Star Wars; Beach Boys, Styx, Boston, Michael Jackson (Off The Wall). Unfortunately, I moved on to cassettes before I hit my musical stride.

Its a pretty good album overall but its special to me because I made that specific album. Almost 10 years ago, fellow poster Junkhead let me know about a cool opportunity to press records at A&R in Dallas. They were shorthanded and needed people to run the record press machines for the custom vinyl pressings. They set me up on a rickety old ass ladder in the back of the shop with about 10 cups of various different colored vinyl chips. I got to combine them in the hopper however I wanted which then got melted into a thick puck and pressed into the vinyl record. Its why they needed so many people because no two records were the same. They must have had 10 presses squeezed back there and everyone was working their own. It still one of the coolest experiences of my life.

just getting in to vinyl and my only album, at the moment, is Led Zeppelin II
Some decent examples above, especially for someone in to the Eagles. Dark Side of The Moon is an obvious headliner. You didn't speak to what kind of equipment you have but hopefully is is as high end as you can afford as will greatly determine what you're getting out of playing the vinyl to begin with.

I haven't listened to it yet but I did get Pearl Jam's "No Code" 25th anniversary reissue in the mail last night. The packaging and everything about it is phenomenal.

Darkside and the Wall both. The new remasters are actually pretty good, especially for the price point. The MoFi press of Darkside on a proper rig will give you Brain Damage (pun intended).

I have a bunch of records and a few crappy record players. Don't listen to them much. My preferred listening experience includes bourbon, bluetooth, and a good Bose anything (speaker or headphones). I hear "things I never heard before" every time.
But this thread has some great suggestions. My go-tos are ZZ Top, Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, and SRV.
