I remember going to a specific theater with my parents when I was 11 and seeing this. Really got to grow up with those 3
I think the early films did a great hob of capturing the "magic" of Harry discovering a magical world. They later one s aren't as good IMO, but still better than most.GiveEmHellBill said:
I had never read any of the books when the first movie came out. My wife (a teacher) had. She was psyched to see this movie, but I had little interest.
I made a deal with her: I would go see Harry Potter with her and a few weeks later, she went with me to see The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring.
I really enjoyed Harry Potter and she did not like LoTR. She never saw another one and I accompanied her to every subsequent HP film.

It isn't the trans community, it is the progressive white woman that is concerned on behalf of the trans community.Madmarttigan said:CheeseSndwch said:Quote:

The fact that the trans community thinks anyone cares enough to "cancel" Rowling or Harry Potter is hilarious. She could stab someone and I would still love Harry Potter.

Hell... her stance on that is probably the only thing I agree with Rowling on. I respect her sticking to her guns and not giving into the woke mob.Madmarttigan said:CheeseSndwch said:Quote:

Kind of ironic that the creatures would write the Creator out of their story

Wife and I had a fight over the HP movies and books.
For the older kids, we agreed that they had to read the books before seeing the movies. No problems.
But the younger kids didn't have that requirement, and they've never finished the books.
The disagreement was on the fact I wanted them to read the books first, or at least read the individual book before seeing that movie.

I'm not sure what side of the argument you were on, but for our daughters, they can watch the movie only when we have read the book. We read these books together as I try to remember what each character sounds like. That being said, we are barely in Half Blood Prince after starting 2 or 3 years ago. Naturally, this isn't the only thing we have read together, but it makes watching the movies exciting for us.Iowaggie said:

I hesitate to think of the sex scenes HBO would add with all those wands around!Saxsoon said:

The concept of Fantastic Beasts was good, seeing more of the world she created was interesting. They are just mediocre movies, for the most part.TheDoctor said:
Wasn't there something floating around that Chris Columbus mentioned he'd be interested in filming HP and the Cursed Child with the original cast? Don't know how I feel about Columbus doing it, but I'd be down for that. Would be better than the Fantastic Beasts series……
