Thought this was quite well done. Netflix, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rent creator, Andrew Garfield. Wouldn't generally consider myself a musical guy, but liked this one a lot.

Synopsis?
So like the guy who made Rent also made this before he died before Rent opened. It's about his crisis of conscious. And it's a good musical made by a guy who makes good musicals, making a dead guy's musical. And it's not focused on aids like Rent was, but is kind of focused on Rent, but without the aids. It's good.

And Andrew Garfield was quite fantastic.

Just saying. It's a long holiday weekend, and not the worst to spend 2 hours.

Wow, I have newfound respect for Garfield's acting chops. I thought the movie was very good, but I would strongly recommend avoiding it if you are not a fan of musicals as this is kind of a meta musical, where the musical is about the time, effort, rejection, and stress that goes into making musicals.

I had no idea how tragic the end of Jonathan Larson's life was, and find the name of his musical to be eerily apropos for his life/death. He died the day before Rent premiered of an aortic dissection that was misdiagnosed twice at separate ERs days prior to his death. I had heard of his story without realizing it was him they were talking about in medicine circles, as aortic dissections are a sort of boogeyman for ER doctors because they are so easy to miss.

Is that the same situation the Judas Priest guitarist recently experienced and is still recovering from?

His death is truly tragic. For someone to struggle so long as an artist to due literally hours before his dream is realized.
