Thanks. I thought it was just me that couldn't see half the scenes in a damn movie anymore.

You should get them to stop this ***** And while you're at it, make them stop doing that stupid pre-trailer, trailer crap too.

I think the answer is that outside of comedies and romcoms, just about every movie wants to set a serious tone and they view color as an important part of that.
I do think it is massively overused and unfortunate, since the view of vibrant colors on a big screen is amazing. But Hollywood gonna Hollywood.

I've always assumed it was because it's easier to do CGi when you can't see anything.
