Let's here your thoughts on this album, especially if you are under 30. Is it still relevant today?

If you own it on vinyl, it does impact you playing it in its entirety. In today's world I find it difficult take the time.

Love the album, second only to The Wall for me. (From PF's discography.)

Question -- better album cover, this or Nevermind?

I really enjoy the album. I have the vinyl from when it was originally released, but never got a CD copy. And you are right, taking the time to flip the album over does interrupt the flow.
As to album covers, yes, it is an iconic one.

i prefer it to the Wall.
I can listen to every song on this over and over not get tired of it.

But The Wall, i am tired of Another Brick in the Wall, comfortably numb, etc.

Asking me to pick my favorite Pink Floyd album is asking the impossible. Dark Side or Wish You Were Here probably represent the height of their musical output as a four piece. The Wall is great, but it also represented Roger Waters really starting to get up his own butt (exacerbated with The Final Cut).

Went to some Wizard of Oz and Dark Side laser light show in Ft Worth in the 90's

Greatest album of all time, features two of David Gilmour's greatest solos, love the album as a concept, between the compositions and the sonic effects, love it in quadraphonic.

I love Pink Floyd and this album. The album is losing relevance by the year, yet some band like Muse or Radiohead could have released it today and it would be a hit for that band, probably not on the pop charts, though.

There is still a lot of potential for songs from the album to make comebacks as part of a movie soundtrack, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

At least 4 PF albums that are better than The Wall for me.

DSOTM
Wish You Were Here
Meddle
Animals
The Wall

On a different day I might even have Piper and Saucerful ahead of it as well.

I've been addicted to music since I was 8 years old but primarily went down the metal path.

I tried to see the brilliance of Dark Side of the Moon many times over the years but it just never clicked for me...until it did. Tremendous piece of art and one of my few go to records just to have on in the background at home.

Never saw Pink live - are they still doing the odd show here and there?

Love Pink Floyd and this album. Sometime in either 04 or 05 Rudder theater did the DSotM and Wizard of Oz showing and my gf (now wife) and I went and loved it of course.

Um...

ok, yes, the 5 man lineup with Syd Barrett and Richard Wright are still doing the odd show. And the shows are very odd.

I took a history of rock n roll course at A&M where the professor organized an evening for everyone to come watch Dark Side of the Moon to Wizard of Oz in Harrington (I think) for extra credit.

Great class.
Thanks and gig'em

I prefer Animals and Wish You Were Here over Dark Side of the Moon, but that's just personal preference. I have no issue/argument with anyone putting it at the top of their list.

As a band, no. Looks like Roger Waters and Nick Mason have separate solo tours happening this year (COVID permitting). David Gilmour doesn't appear to have any tour dates planned. We'd have a real story on our hands if Rick Wright or Syd Barret were touring in anything other than hologram form.

In my opinion, the greatest album ever made... but i'm not under 30. I'm in my mid thirties.

I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but Time is a top 10 song of all time.

In my mid-30s, and I'm of the opinion that Meddle (1971), DSOTM (1973), Wish you were here (1975), Animals (1977), and The Wall (1979) represented the greatest run of albums ever. My favourite of that group of albums changes often, which says a lot.

I've seen Aussie Pink Floyd and Brit Floyd. Both amazing and well worth seeing. I believe they've got common band members or at least some who have been in both bands, and one of them played a David Gilmour birthday party, so at least they're at least acknowledged by the living members.

First time I listened to my vinyl of Dark Side, I heard things in the audio I had never heard before in the lower quality files I had been listening to for years.

Syd Barret would also be puzzling since not only is he dead, they kicked him out of the band before their big run of albums.

I remember when I was at A&M a Dark Side/Wizard of Oz show would go on at Wolf Pen Creek amphitheater. Once Dark Side was done, they would play The Wall.

Does anyone here have the Original Master Recording lp? I have been on the lookout for this one.

I was working with a client a few years ago and they had tickets to Brit Floyd, and I didn't even realize what it was. Brit Floyd just sounded like some millennial/new country type generic dude so I passed. Thankfully someone else told me later on so I scrambled back to see if I could still get the tickets.

Brit Floyd (and Aussie Pink Floyd) have ruined me for any sort of Pink Floyd cover/tribute act. Everyone else pales in comparison.
