Resolved: That Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphy's are absolutely terrible.

The definition of one trick ponies.

I love good Celtic music but HOLY **** if I ever have to hear "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" again, I'll go on my own self imposed potato famine.

And yes, sweet Tanya, I know you're a fan. I overlook that because you love Aggie baseball so much.

I'm a fan. Mostly because of Dolores's voice.
I miss her

Thanks, but you have to admit this is awesome. The giggle is everything

Little boy with cancer couldn't leave his house. So the town decided to entertain him from his yard or the street.

Better than both of those (and the greatest "Irish" song of the last two centuries) is Steve Earle's "Galway Girl"

Absolutely! I stumbled upon this a few years back. Pretty great.

Short backstory from the band:
Quote:

o, this is what happened.

The three of us came into the airport and the flight was delayed by nearly two hours.

We could tell that everyone was a little bit unhappy about this and Geoff (the banjo player in the video) suggested that we play a bit of the Galway girl, (this song is called The Galway Girl), in a music session. He played a set of traditional irish dance tunes on the banjo and I (Daoiri Farrell) backed him on the Bouzouki. Robbie Walsh (Bodhran Player) then joined us and we had the attention of everyone in the room immediatly.
I then proceeded to sing a song. I picked one that I thought everyone would know, The Galway Girl. It went down really well. By this stage my dad had the Canon out and here is the video footage he took. His name is Desmond Farrell and his hobby is photography.

Eh…Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly had their time and place late 90s/early 2000s.

The Pogues, however, are eternal.

NOPE; you are 100% wrong

If you think either are the "definition of one trick pony" you have only heard a couple of their songs - or don't understand the definition of one trick pony. They both have numerous great songs that get your blood flowing. Expand your listening to more than just the "popular" songs.

Flogging Molly's album "Drunken Lullabies" is great, as just an example.

Shipping up to Boston was driven into the ground, but Dropkick goes way beyond just that one song.

And Flogging Molly is ****ing awesome, not sure what they every did to you
