How long do you want to ignore this user?
Recently, I saw the two guys from the sonic commercials in a movie ( I think it was stranger than fiction)..
it got me wondering if there had been a movie based on a commercial

Can anyone help?

Can't think of a movie offhand, but the GEICO cavemen were turned into a television show.

A couple have become TV shows. Gieco caveman and Ted Lasso come to mind.

Can't think of a commercial into a movie, but can think of a movie that was a commercial:

When was it a commercial? Thought it started as shorts on the Tracy Ullman Show.

This. They were bumpers between skits on Tracy Ullman and the only reason i would watch that show as a kid.

Varney played the Ernest character in commercials for Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy stores in Oklahoma in the late '80s.

After reading this thread I'm surprised they haven't made a movie out of the m&m commercials and the various characters they've developed throughout the years.

He did local commercials all over the country. In Houston, he did spots for channel 2. I remember my brother delivering the news that he had seen Ernest doing a different local spot in a different city.

Well when I say Best Ernest movie, that kind of limits it quite a bit, I would think.

Unrelated to the exact topic here...but can anyone tell me where to find "Earnest Goes to Camp" so I can show it to my kids. I watched it 100 times in the 80s and I swear it has disappeared from the internet...can't find it on netflix, hulu, hbo, even prime (which usually has movies you can pay to rent, even if they aren't included in prime membership).

Funny thing is that is the only Earnest movie I remember, but I have found 5 or 6 other earnest movies online...but not that one. Its crazy or Im crazy or both.

The plot involves a corporation tricking an indian chief who doesn't speak english into signing away his tribal land, and the chief teaches a group of campers about ancient indian warrior rituals before blessing them and sending them into battle against the corporation. This movie definitely got memory-holed.

Ernest scared stupid was legitimately one of the scariest movies I saw as a kid. This was back in the day when TNT, TBS, and about a dozen other channels played horror movies at night all weekend.

We rewatched it last October. Still terrifying.
