Anybody start this? First 3 episodes were released on Thursday. I'm about 2 episodes in and enjoy it so far, but I thinks also because I had an odd fascination with this story from the Netflix documentary. It's bizarre on so many levels.

Just starting this now. Loved the original doc so I'm very intrigued to see how they do this.

Hopefully this one actually presents the evidence that implicates him.
He slept with the editor of the last one, and when I read up on the case I was shocked at some of the stuff that was conveniently left out.

What did you read? This case is fascinating to me.

Fwiw, I think he did it.

The series so far is great. Colin Firth has Michael Peterson's voice down to a T. Also, the girl who plays Margaret has done a fantastic job imitating her mannerisms.

Here's some of it.

That's Sansa Stark looking real thin.

What is the deal with all these, here is a documentary and now we need to make a dramatization about it?

I realize they probably weren't allowed to clean it up, but it is WILD that Peterson's whole family/legal team were based in his house with the blood splatter still all over the staircase. I can't imagine being there and just turning the corner and seeing all of Kathleen's blood still as it was months later. I remember the doc making a point of it too, still crazy to me.

I was on the fence but after episode 3…I'm out!
Maybe if I hadn't watched the doc recently I might have stayed but this just isn't doing it for me.
Parker Posey reading the online communications was pretty funny.

You may want to watch episode 4 before you make that call if you're interested in material the documentary didn't cover with respect to the French white haired women and Michael's time in jail.

Wow. I had no idea about that.

Tonight's episode was definitely the most interesting to me so far and I think that's directly the consequence of new material outside the documentary. But I'm really stoked for next week's episode that looks to introduce the owl theory.

Anyone still watching this? I thought the Owl Theory was conveyed extremely well. Very good episode.

My wife and I have nonverbally stopped plenty of series. This is the first series where my wife just flat out said I'm done.

Did anyone finish this?

After watching the documentary, I thought he didn't do it...the show made it seem like he did. Now I am going down a YouTube rabbit hole to get more info lol

I learned to never believe a Netflix documentary again after Making a Murderer.

Finished last night.

Didn't really do much to change my mind either way. I'm still 60/40 on he did it, but the owl theory isn't impossible.

But the fact that he finally admitted that his wife didn't know about his sexuality is big, can't remember if that was confirmed on the Netflix doc.

I think he did it. Seems like there's way too many coincidences surrounding him throughout his life. Plus it looks like his son Todd even thinks he did it.

I wonder how much of his relationship with Sophie in the HBO show was real. They paint him out to be a huge ******* to her in that last episode.

Originally watched the documentary when it came out on Netflix. I was convinced it was a fall, didn't know anything about the strangulation and/or other evidence that indicates him killing her. The way they illustrated the DA and Deaver hiding evidence/making it up as they went along indicated to me that they had tunnel vision on Michael before entertaining any other evidence or theories.

Upon completing the HBO series, I walked away thinking he did it. The smoking gun is the throat strangulation/broken cartilage. Additionally, I think the series did an interesting job on illuminating the fact that he used everyone around him, being either Kathleen, the editor, his kids, etc. etc. etc.

Now more than anything, I think 60 he did it, 30 the owl did it, or 10 she fell (maybe even more 35 owl, 5 fall). I could not wrap my head around how the owl theory made any sense before the HBO depiction.

I don't remember in the documentary his confession about Kathleen not knowing about his sexuality/affairs, but I did read an article that the documentarians did open up all of their recordings to the HBO director. If that ever came out in the trial, it would have been extremely detrimental to his defense of innocence.

Im still watching this, but Colin Firth does an amazing job as Peterson. His mannerisms, the way he talks, very well portrayed.

Was that real or just in the TV show?

Not sure, but I assume the HBO people wouldn't put that in if it wasn't.

It is just too big a coincidence that one person would be linked to two different women dying at the bottom of a staircase.

I'm torn on if he did it because the owl stuff, while wild, was plausible as presented.

That being said - the final episode was horrible. I get they're all miserable, but it was the type of episode that made me wish I hadn't watched the rest of the series. Slow, monotonous, depressing.
Staff - take out the trash.

I just wish they'd shown a little more of the six years between the retrial and the Alford plea, and why the kids finally stopped supporting him.

Yeah the way they were cutting back and forth between 2011 and 2017 was confusing. If I hadn't had prior knowledge of what happened, I would have been completely lost. I also agree they should have shown more during those in between years.

The documentations who have an agenda and clearly force their pre-decided conclusion are the worst..Morgan Spurlock and Michael Moore are entertaining but their movies aren't really documentaries IMO.

I'm also convinced he did it, but man that was a confusing and depressing show.

I'd argue that maybe this is the better way to watch this story (HBO first, then documentary). That way you can go into documentary with some perspective and avoid the skewing towards Michael being innocent.

What am I missing? Why would this be a bigger story? It seems like his drug addict son (who clearly has some problems based on this video) thinks that his dad committed the murder bc he tried to get him to drink alcohol?

It's been a long time since I've seen the documentary, so is there something I'm forgetting that would make this weird video more important than it seems?
