Just finished it, thought it was really good. If you're an nba fan and watched the old and 1 mix tapes, be sure to watch the end credits. So many people had cameos I didn't notice.

A&M's Khris Middleton has a small speaking part in the movie. It was overall a very decent movie.

The great Robert Duvall in a movie with Sandler and Queen Latifah released directly to Netflix.

And it's good.

I just don't know whats happening.

Sandler has proven to be more than just a goofball comedian. Some of his dramatic roles are really good. I usually find queen latifah extremely annoying but she was pretty good too.

I agree, but I first knew Sandler as Stud Boy on REmote Control and Queen Latifah was in a House Party movie. Just highlighting that I'm old and careers have come a long way - up or down - and a good movie with good actors direct to Netflix is still a bit of a surprise.

Uncut Gems was a fantastic performance as well. The movie itself was too intense for my enjoyment but Sandler was awesome in it.

The biggest issue I had with the movie is the coaches wearing suits to a game.

This is the most hurtful thing anyone has ever said to me.

very much enjoyed it. Thought they went a little overboard with all the cameos. Some just felt forced.

Also think the sister taking over because the brother screwed things up was a stretch. Hell he hadn't even had his first draft yet! What had he really screwed up and how does Sis take over so quickly.

I assume it had to do with spending extravagantly and trying to trade Embiid, although the latter is pretty hard to believe. I think the hardest part of the movie to believe was an NBA scout footing the bill for a six week long stay in a 5 star hotel. Assuming a $500+ /night cost, that's at least a $20k bill, for a guy that likely makes at best $60k/yr living in Philadelphia which is not cheap.

They had mentioned and implied that it was known he didn't know what he was doing before the Dad died.

Agree with some of the cameos being forced, but it was still fun to try and figure out who everyone was.

I also enjoyed the general avoidance of forced PC or any kind of political/current topic material.

I will second that! I don't think there was a woke moment at all. In fact, the trash talking in the film was worth the watch. All the training montages and classic Sandman humor throughout being a sports drama. Classic sports movie from the last 30 years.

I thought the sister/ownership angle was meant to parallel the Buss family. Isn't that pretty much exactly what happened there after Jerry Buss died? The kids took it over jointly, and then Jeanie Buss took charge over her siblings.

I also felt the opposite about the cameos. They didn't feel forced at all to me. There was no hamming it up (except Dirk) with dialogue like "oh hello my good friend Khris Middleton". It felt like how someone who had been around the league for a couple decades would act and talk.

I watched it last night and really enjoyed it. Thought Sandler did well with the NBA cameos without taking it to over the top. It's amazing to me how he was pretty much all comedy and has totally switched up his genres to movies like this one and Uncut Gems.

I enjoyed the movie very much because it was well done. It was also a breath of fresh air because it was clear the makers of the movie didn't throw in a bunch of stuff that didn't fit just to ensure they're on what's perceived to be the correct side.

I don't watch movies to get lectured or be preached at, I have my wife and church for that.

They don't. That's why they want to make everyone else miserable like them.

That's an absolutely hilarious statement considering the general state of mind and attitude of the woke crowd.

Looking forward to this movie.

I liked it even though it was cliche. Pretty sure Anthony Edwards didn't have any scripted lines and they just told him to act like his usual self.

I don't think anyone said that.

It's noteworthy and refreshing when a movie or tv show doesn't try to shoehorn in some irrelevant wokeness.

It's similar to watching a movie that has a unique plotline or twist. It's so rare that it's noteworthy, and that adds to the enjoyment even though it doesn't make it enjoyable all on its own.

All pretty obvious stuff, which makes your comment (unintentionally) funny on a couple of levels.
