Have my tickets for Houston and Austin (Austin will be my granddaughter's first Springsteen concert. She's 9. She will be there with her Mom and Aunt.) Will probably go to Denver, too.

Doing the Dallas/Austin/Houston tour, will possibly make the trek to Tulsa, and then going to try and hit some east coast stops.

I'm thinking Denver because I traveled there to see him on The River tour. Such a great time. Maybe the best ever.

When they added extra dates in that tour, I even went to Pittsburg Got to see Joe Grushecky (and his brother Johnny) as they are Pittsburg legends. Good times.

I'll most likely be at the Texas shows.

Cool.

Something about the East Coast crowds just put a bit more energy into it (but I'm just not a fan of going to NY.) Just a personal preference.

Totally agree. I've seen him in NY 3 times and there's definitely an energy there that's different. That stated, of all the times I've seen him play Texas, he usually puts a little something extra in his Houston shows vs Dallas or Austin.

I saw him in Houston (actually the Woodlands) in 2014. He had a great story about them traveling down to Houston in about 1978 - they had never flown before. After that flight, they didn't fly again for several years :-)

Steve was too busy being a movie star that year. Tom Morello played on that tour.

I was at that show.

Seen him at the Woodlands twice and at (what used to be) The Summit 3 or 4 times.

I was sitting on about row 10 or 12 in the center section. Great weather that night.

One of the greatest rock and roll moments in my life is when they played Ghost of Tom Joad. (And I'm old and have seen many of the classic great rock bands).

Denver was my first PIT show so will always have a special place in my heart - went solo and met a ton of great people waiting the 3-4 hours in line pre-show that I still keep in contact with.

We weren't too far from each other. I wasn't well versed on the stage setup so when they let the pit people in I went towards the left and that happened to be Morello's side. Literally had a beer on the stage at his feet -- don't think all of the fans there understood how unique that pit experience was with it being so small an no security buffer between pit and the stage.

And Ghost of Tom Joad that night was one of my all time favorite music moments as well. Two eras of my music fandom combining with Springsteen (that I got from my Dad growing up) and Morello (with Rage from my HS years and Audioslave from college/post-college years)... just made for a pretty cool night.

Tried to get my dad out for The River tour when it stopped in Dallas a while back (I mean, who doesn't want to listen to Independence Day while sitting next to their father?), but I think he's reluctant to do the whole "big concert" thing as he's gotten older.... So I've made it impossible for him to say no this go-round with front row seats in section closest to the stage for Dallas that I'll be paying off until I'm his age.

I wasn't too far behind you guys at that show. I was in the center section maybe 20-25 rows back. Hard for me to recall for sure…after a while some of the shows and seating arrangements start to blend.

Was this the show that they brought up the two brothers from the crowd on stage to sing Bobbie Jean (or maybe it was No Surrender) with them or was that a different one at the Woodlands?

Had no idea people followed Springsteen around like the Dead or Phish.

I dig his stuff and have no doubt he puts on a great show but I just didn't realize that people followed him town to town.

Isn't that the truth! I've seen 2 stories on network news this week about the prices for this tour.

Ticketmasters system was selling tickets at "face value" of around $5500 the day of the pre-sale. Today you can get floor seats for $200 and in the building for $6.

That dynamic pricing gets a big thumbs down from me.

I bought my Houston seats months ago, but had a little patience. Sure ,could have waited until a few hours before the concert to buy, but I did not overpay, and center section 12 rows behind the pit were incredible seats.

However, it seems the Austin tickets are at a higher price on the secondary markets today than what I paid months ago.

First half of the Houston show was pretty pretty good. The second half - couple songs before the encore and then the 7-8 song encore was amazing. 73 years old rocking like a 40 year old. Bought decent lower level ticket for $70 day of and yes to get in the building behind the stage were as low as $6.

When you have what could be your final chance to see your rock and roll idols - you go.

Setlist has a lull early on with Kitty's Back -> Alternates but slower song -> Night Shift -> Don't Play That Song... but yeah after that point there's about 10-12 in a row that are all great.

I actually like the sound of Night Shift, but just dont think you can do those 4 in a row without breaking it up a bit.

He's done a great job mixing in a hit that the other stops aren't getting. Tampa got Brilliant Disguise, Atlanta got Darlington County (which I would have loved), Houston got 'Night'.... Dallas got hosed with Detroit Medley (which is just a bad cover).

Also having to play short-handed because of COVID and they've managed to adjust.

Old man still getting it done.

Meh. I've seen him 12 times. This is the first tour in nearly 25 years I haven't made any effort to get tickets.
I have a few reasons for that but the dynamic pricing deal cinched it for me.
Hell, when you piss off your fan base so much so that the fanzine dedicated to you ceases operations after 40 years because of it, you may have pushed your **** just a little too far.
Proposition Joe
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Or, you know, maybe a fanzine became a dead medium when social media came around.

I mean, I love the work the guy put into it but there's a reason there aren't "fanzines" for the most popular artists out there anymore. His subscriber base all probably still had Compuserve email addresses.

As far as the dynamic pricing... Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If he prices everything reasonable? "THE DAMN SCALPERS TOOK ALL THE TICKETS!". He prices dynamically to keep the scalpers out "WHAT A GREEDY MFER!".

Oh, and he's adding stadium dates to the back-end so pretty much anyone who didn't get to see him now can.

Houston had $6 tickets. Tulsa had $6 tickets. This was probably the most affordable Springsteen tour of all time.

Aside from Garth who can just decide to add show after show after show in every city until demand is no longer there, all the other major artists are cut from the same cloth -- some just have much better PR teams than others that can shift ticket price blame away from them.

Backstreets had become nearly 100% online. Yes, they still had a print magazine but like most anything else these days it was outdated as soon as it was printed.
Furthermore, they shuttered as a response to the dynamic pricing…their own words….not because it was obsolete.

To each his own but I say again….when you piss off THE most hardcore fans out there who have stuck by you through thick and thin for longer than 80% of the length of your career, you might want to reconsider some decisions.

Proposition Joe

Yeah I read the final letter. I think it was just an easy excuse for him to finally give up something that interest had long been waning in. I've been a fan for 30+ years, E-Street Radio is pretty much always on in my car, yet I haven't read Backstreets in 10 years and I'm sure I'm not alone. The target demographic is simply too old at this point.

As far as ticket prices go... again, it was a $6 ticket in Houston, it'll be a $6 ticket in Tulsa. It'll be a $150 ticket at the brand new beautiful venue in Austin. Dynamic Pricing went haywire and people saw a few sets of tickets get grossly overpriced (instead of what normally happens where they aren't put on sale at all and held back to sell as overpriced VIP packages). But there were plenty of "affordable" tickets during the onsales. But those don't make for good headlines.

I think the plan all along was to do arenas at "what the market would bear", and then come back around and do stadiums for the masses.

I did do two concerts in three days - Houston and Austin.

I'm old, but not as old as all those in the E Street Band. I'm exhausted.

Just thinking about cost versus Aggie Football. The Springsteen concerts are always a win, and a good value . Football costs me more, and the outcomes are not so good sometimes.

Nils was a COVID victim for Houston. Jake was a victim for Austin. Oh well.

George Strait came out with Bruce in Austin. Set list added Cadillac Ranch in Austin. Good times.

And I've done that multiple Bruce shows in a few days routine myself more than once. Totally worth it.

Saw Bruce for the first time in Houston last week and loved it so much I am trying to pick another date later in the tour to see it again.

What a great experience.
