Hes been making Righteous Gemstones and written a decent amount of movies over the last 5 years. Pretty steady

I didn't know Mcbride was the writer of the newer Halloween films.

You know what would be a match McBride and Armando Iannucci (veep, the thick of it). Think of the insults.

Because I didn't know McBride wrote Halloween films, which is clearly very time consuming art.

Vice Principals got 2 seasons, then canned. Gemstones got 2 seasons and was nearly canned. Let's not act like these IPs are burning down the Neilson ratings. Its very niche.

So going back to a show that put McBride on the map and had long running success makes sense.

The problem with VP and Gemstones is there is only so much juice to squeeze with that concept. Many of these shows, like Silicon Valley, have a creative limit given the setup. But with Eb&down you have consistent sports stupidity to draw from.

Where are you getting that info? It was renewed for a second season halfway through the first season, and renewed for a third season after the 4th episode of Season 2.

Production issues and the estimated debut of season isnt until 2024.

S1 premiered in 2019. S2 premiered in 2022...ok covid...whatever. S3 isnt coming out until 2024.

Keeping a show together for six years is difficult, but if its every year people are consistently making money. Trying to keep something going that long with 2-3 year gaps in between is a nightmare. People tend to stray to other projects...which voila McBride is writing slasher flicks in between these seasons.

Here comes the big Hollywood guy to say "production and premieres are very delicate and you just dont understand them" but FFS lets not act like successful shows dont get new seasons annually. If something is making money they pour into it so it gets made and released ASAFP.

Lets not pretend that Eb&d, VP, or Gemstones is causing anyone to go out and get an HBO subscription. These are tertiary shows that require an audience with a specific taste. Thus we see why HBO isnt in a rush to have it come out annually. It may be good for their subscribers to enjoy, but its not a hit show by any stretch of the imagination.

Gemstones S3 is 100% coming out in 2023. This has been officially announced by HBO, and they're filming as we speak (production began in June).

Also, Vice Principals wasn't "canned." It was designed as a two-season show from the start.
