From TexAgs Sponsor, Destination Bryan:
Craft beer & great food - that's a combination that will keep me coming back to Bryan any day! After I left work, I was looking for a local spot to try a few seasonal beers and grab a bite to eat. I decided to hit up two of my local favorite craft breweries, Blackwater Draw and KinderHill Brew Lab. While both vastly different in their own unique way, they each nailed the two things I was searching for, craft beer and great food.

Blackwater Draw Brewery
I started the night off at Blackwater Draw Brewery to catch the rest of the Astros game. Located at the north end of Main Street in Downtown Bryan, Blackwater Draw features rotating and seasonal craft beers, but always has a few staples on tap - such as their Mulligan German Kolsh, Border Town Mexican Lager, Hazy Lady IPA, or one of my fall favorites, Contract Killer Coffee Porter. This time around, I decided to try out their Oktoberfest Lager. Until the end of October, you can get a custom beer stein (yours to keep) full of their Oktoberfest brew for $15 (refills after that are only $6) which is a pretty solid deal if you ask me. Halfway through the stein, I remembered that Blackwater had a killer food truck with some solid bar bites, so I went with the Parmesan Rosemary Truffle Fries. Which I highly recommend if you haven't tried it before. After the game wrapped up, I moved on to the next stop, KinderHill Brew Lab.

Kinderhill Brewlab
Down the road from Blackwater, KinderHill Brew Lab resembles more of a traditional Biergarten with ample picnic table seating and lots of shade to enjoy the cooler weather. KinderHill is known for its off-the-wall and creative craft beer selections which are always cleverly named. Some of my favorites include, Are You Afraid of the Dark Lager, Shut Your Trapper Keeper IPA, and the hilariously named Basic Batch Pumpkin Spice Ale. While the beer is already a great reason to visit, their resident food truck, The Wild Garlic, really takes the experience over the top. Their wood-fired pizzas and cheesy pull-apart bread never disappoint and Chef Tanner does a great job incorporating locally sourced ingredients with a seasonal flare. Trust me, it's good.
If you haven't tried either of these places, I highly recommend stopping by for a cold craft beer or a delicious bite to eat. After all, what more could you ask for?
