I had never seen this one although I've always liked the Dirty Harry films and watched it last night and it was surprisingly good, especially for the last installment of a franchise, which is rare. Typically once you get to the 5th film they go off the rails, yes I'm looking at you Die Hard.

You've got a young Liam Neeson and a crazy music video sequence to Welcome to the Jungle (the actual song by Guns N Roses, who make an appearance in the film) but what's crazy is Jim Carrey is supposedly the singer and was just shocking seeing him. He's even listed in the credits as James Carry.

Anyway, definitely worth a watch if you've never seen it and a crazy good car chase scene with an RC car loaded with C4.

This movie shouldn't really work but it does.

You're a little late on this review, but I love it.

Just kidding. I really like seeing reviews and thoughts on older movies. Seems like we've been seeing more of these lately.

I remember being disappointed when I saw this that summer. It didn't compare favorably at all to any of the previous films in the series. Maybe I should watch it again to see if my opinion has changed any.

My biggest critique is they shoehorned in the Asian cop as his partner and a very cringe inducing scene where he's spotting him in the gym (benching was appears to be 85 pounds lol) and of course Eastwood is checking out some babe as the cop struggles with the weight and it's pressed against his chest.

They should have removed the Asian cop completely and fleshed out his relationship with the reporter more or really leaned into the new cop partnership and did something with that as he's really kinda wasted in the film.

I still really enjoyed it and had probably 4-5 laugh out loud moments (OK, one was the absurdity of Jim Carrey playing Axl Rose) but overall pleasantly surprised.

FYI - I rented it on Prime Video for like 78 cents.

I'm going to have to admit that none of this thread was making sense because I thought this was either an old movie about Deadpool back in the Christopher Reeve as Superman era that I somehow missed, or this was a Deadpool 1988 movie to come out that was somewhat mocking Wonder Woman 1984.

Clearly, my mistake, because I remember Eastwood's The Dead Pool, especially this movie poster:
