Recently announced that they are revisiting/re-recording 40 of their favorites. So far we've heard a bit of Beautiful Day and the whole of Pride (In the Name of Love.) Neither of them grabbed me.
I'm a lifelong fan and been to over 30 shows. Not sure I'll be along for this ride.

I actually like U2 quite a bit but this seems like a horrible idea. For the record. I haven't listened to either of the new recording ywt.

Seems like an easy way to make money. Listened to pride just now, it's cool I guess. Lyric change seemed unnecessary. Overall it reminds me of when a movie trailer uses a strange cover of a song, and you spend the whole trailer thinking what song is this?

So in summary , they covered their own song good enough it could be played in a movie trailer.

It just doesn't move the needle for me, and they were in my wheelhouse since high school (War-Joshua Tree) all the way through Atomic Bomb. On the one hand, I like they are still doing something new(-ish) but on the other hand I think I'd like to tell them its ok for bands to retire too.

Bono's been all over the place lately. First there was an album called Songs of Ascent, but they held off on that and were supposedly working on something more guitar heavy. Then we get this? 4 LPs and liner notes for $146?

Don't get me started about the book tour...

Trendy thing to say, but as far as mainstream rock goes nobody did it better during their prime. IMO, Joshua Tree is the standard when comes to an album that is original, wildly commercially successful, and meaningful.

The kardashians are one of the most famous families in the world. They make billions on appearances and merchandising. No one can dispute their cultural impact. And they're still awful people.

Guys, I really, really need you to know that I dislike something that's popular. (I know, it was a lot more popular 20 years ago and this stance might have made a little more sense back then , but that's beside the point).

I went to the Rattle and Hum Tour in Perth Western Australia in 1988. Great show, blew me away. One of my first big concerts. Lost interest in them later years, but early stuff was mint.
