Got this album order offer in email from a local record shop. I noticed it has a Marvel character on the cover.

How does that work? Do they just slap it on there and hope they don't get caught? Or do they reach out to Marvel and see what the going rate is to use their images?

You might recall that Satriani ended up changing the cover of Surfing With The Alien over licensing fees.

How much money are we talking here?

MF Doom is a rapper who recently died. Most of his stuff has some sort of Dr. Doom on it. That's his thing to stand out I guess.

I'm not a lawyer, but looking at the difference between the two, I'd say that the MF Doom one seems more of a parody in nature, while the Satriani one seems like a direct copy.

I'm guessing these days there is zero chance to just use it and hope you don't get caught

And along time ago before the MCU became a giant thing.

disney still licenses out marvel stuff for other uses.

it does not have to be MCU.
It was released in 1987. that's what I meant.
