has anyone bought on of these? I saw some ads on Instagram for them.

its kind of like a Firestick. you plug it in and have access to Mario, Donkey Kong, etc.

I wanted to buy one but seeing if anyone has used something similar that they liked? thanks

You're going to get a bunch of recommendations for building a Raspberry Pi. It's fairly straight forward if you want to try and DIY it and you'll get access to a bunch of different games and systems. I made one about 5 years ago and it was a fun project.

That being said, the standalone systems like you are talking about are plug and play. I bought a PS1 version a while back. My experience is that the nostalgia makes me think i'll play it, but the truth is I think I've fired it up maybe twice. The system works fine, though.

This thread on the Nerdery has several pages of folks talking about their retro gaming setups, so might have a good answer for you

Good point. I bought one of these SNES retro systems and ended up selling it. The nostalgia couldn't compete with newer games on my Series X.

I've got a 'firestick' dongle type think that has ~300 games on it. Lots of nintendo, and lots of japanese stuff I've never heard of. And lots of mega man. I think it's mega man 1 through like 12.

RC pro am, baseball, bubble bobble, zelda/link, castelvanias, marios, on and on. Maybe 60 nintendo games?

Bought it when covid hit, it was like $75.

I also have a nintendo classic, and switch with the free nintendo/SNES selections.
