Recently discovered my wife is a closed Ed Sheeran fan so got tickets to the Arlington show last weekend. I knew a few of his hits but that was about it. Turns out that's about all she knew as well. So out of a two hour show we probably knew 7-8 songs.

That said, it was an incredible show. Didn't realize how good he was on guitar. Probably 60-70% of the show was just him and his guitar (granted with lots of looping / effects / etc) but still the full band maybe played 30% of the time. Anyhow just wanted to give it a thumbs up. Lighting / effects / etc were pretty slick to boot.

He also won a recent copyright infringement case, so he's got that going for him as well:

3rd time seeing him. Only time he used the band was when he played songs that he collaborated with other artists on. This is the first time I've seen him use one.

He really is very talented with using loop pedals to create all his music. He puts on a great show.

That said, my God the acoustics in AT&T suck so bad.

I'm glad he did. Not because I'm a huge fan of his music, but any lawsuit like this has the potential to set a dangerous precedent for how music is judged in terms of copyright law.

Sheeran actually mentioned the potential of quitting if he had lost the lawsuit.

Was just reading about it. Sounds like one piece of evidence used in court was him live in concert doing a mashup of the two songs. If I were him I would have offered one of those videos where guys play like 20 songs all to the same beat and progression.

If it were illegal to copy a cord progression we'd have a MUCH smaller sampling of music out there. And about four songs total for church.
