A big group of us kids used to catch the school bus outside of my grandma's house in 83-84. My sketchy uncle was a cable guy and had my grandma's house hooked up with all the cable channels. We'd all gather in her living room and wait for MTV to play the Thriller video on her big console TV before the bus came. They always had certain times of the morning and day for that matter that they'd play it.fav13andac1)c said:
Obligatory. Masterpiece.
I have been a VH fan for as long as I can remember and I can honestly say this is the first time I have seen that video. Watched MTV from the beginning and have never seen that. Wow, just wow. Shame on me.superunknown said:
Michael Anthony as a samurai, Alex Van Halen is a caveman, Eddie Van Halen is a cowboy, and David Lee Roth as Napoleon. Surely, Van Halen's video for "Pretty Woman" can't ever be topped.
I had to call my wife in and she had seen it without the opening. She explained it was banned. Just amazing. I am dumbfounded by it. David being Napoleon, she said, "Yeah, little man syndrome", while making the inch motion with her fingers. Hell maybe she was a groupie in the 80's. This has made me reconsider my entire 52 years!!!!Bruce Almighty said:
You've never seen it because it was never on MTV. It was banned because of the opening sequence.
I've always heard because of the beginning was rapey but it may have been both.Bregxit said:It was banned because of the drag queen ending. And it was later brought back after VH1 started playing it.Bruce Almighty said:

I prefer the version from one of the greatest motion pictures of all time...Rad.Trajan88 said:
