What's the over/under on this, 6 more years? Last album was just in 2019.

Maynard said in 2008 that they were going to start writing for Fear Innoculum "right way". So if they're just now saying they have ideas, then I'd say 10 years.

"But we're quite busy until after the spring of next year touring"

hmm, currently the last date of the 2024 tour is:
  • February 18 Las Vegas, NV T-Mobile Arena

That's still winter, so i'm hoping more dates will be added to the US tour in the Spring.
But I doubt it as Maynard will be touring with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer starting April 7th.

Time to stalk the Tool website for the next 6-12 years while they give you zero information. Can't wait.

Who am I kidding. I'll throw money at that thing and pay whatever ridiculous fee Ticketmaster charges when the time comes.

6 more years? Maybe 16 more years, if ever.

I hope they come through with one more album though. Those guys are the best.

They probably have enough music to do two more albums. Just gotta get Maynard on board. I feel like Tool is way down his list of priorities nowadays.

He has said a few times that the delay is on the part of the other three endlessly tweaking the music, and that he has even recorded entire vocal parts before for songs they told him were "final" but then completely changed. He is a prolific writer and I have no doubt he is telling the truth. If they get him finalized music, he can probably write and record vocals in a matter of a few weeks. From everything I have heard, Adam Jones is the one who will spend years trying to get songs perfect and has a hard time letting go. I understand that. I've written a bunch of music myself and still hear things I recorded years ago that I wish I had written or played a little differently, but at some point you have to let it go. Hopefully it will be quicker this time.

which is crazy, because he seems like a down to earth person, and surely he knows that without Tool, he likely wouldn't have the funds to support his winery, and likely much less success with APC, etc..

So he kinda owes it to Tool. It gave him the lifestyle/hobbies he has.

Did anybody notice that Billy Strings just sat in with Tool last night? I'm trying to think of the last person that got to sit-in with Tool and I'm surprised Maynard even allowed it. Anybody know?

In the last month, Billy played his own wedding with Les Claypool, Trey Anastasio, and Bob Weir. Guy follows that up with shredding on stage with Tool. I can't think of a more meteoric rise in a 20 month span than he has had.

Can't wait for Billy NYE NOLA and Tool Austin shortly after.

re tool guest appearance, they've certainly done it plenty over the years. Kirk Hammett did, this random guy

Back in the day Henry Rollins, Tom morello, their opener tricky did back in the 2000s, Robert fripp,

Ah hell you can just read the list.

Thanks. A more extensive list than I thought. Good lord Lane Staley on "Opiate" must have been nice.

But after surveying it all, looks like it's been over 12 years since someone made a guest appearance. Billy is the ****ing man.

Gonna go with Winds of Winter. RR has a head start unless he kicks the bucket first.

What about Tool or ufo disclosure…which comes first?

Welp. I failed at Ticketmaster this morning. As soon as I got into buy tickets, it was already down to singles only. Guess I'll be looking at after-market for the Austin show.

i just hopped on the denver sale, saw that the cheapest ticket was $100 for way up high, and passed. These were actually $95 before fees, so probably $125 or so.

Sorry, I love me some tool, but that is too much. Any act at an arena should have $50-$60 tickets for way up high.
$100 can be second level or even bottom half of third level.

I'm pretty OK Tool isn't stopping Houston this time around. I feel like the 2019 and 2022 shows used too much prerecorded vocals. Same with APC at Buzzfest in 2018.

The shows are always entertaining but when you a have mega ego ahole like MJK performing behind screens or in the shadows and using propping up shows with prerecorded vocals, its like watching a rerun.

No doubt there will be some disagreement because this is the internet, and that's fine.

yeah completely disagree. Loved the 2022 show and would gladly pay to see them in Houston... they're not getting any younger.

I get the feeling MJK performs behind the screens or in the Shadows for Tool because it very much is a collaborative effort and doesn't want to overshadow other band mates. That and he's just a strange fellow.

If you want to see MJK front and center, check out one of his Puscifer shows. He'll sing, skip, dance all around the stage.
