Now that most of the major Oscar movies have released, what's your predictions and personal choices?

I think Oppenheimer is going to clean up. I see it taking Best Picture, Director, Actor, and Supporting Actor for RDJ. (And they'd all be my choices as well.)

The only one I think could sneak up on it is Ryan Gosling for Supporting Actor.

Before seeing KOTFM, I thought Leo had a pretty good shot at winning, but due to the muted response to the movie, I think his chances have pretty much evaporated.

Not too sure on the actress side of things, but I think Lily Gladstone has a pretty good shot at whichever category she submits in.

Chris Nolan has never won an Oscar.

If/when he wins, he's gonna get a Leo style ovation.

Probably a good list, personally I don't think RDJ added much to Oppenheimer. I would give edge to Gosling on that one. Gladstone is a safe bet on her category. Too bad she can't have Brando accept the Oscar for her.

I keep hearing about Emma Stone is nails in Poor Things.

Admit I have read the book and am really interested in seeing how it translates to the big screen.

Wife was sick so I was sleeping on the sofa. Turned on "To Leslie" and thought the actress Andrea Riseborough did a fantastic job. She played a West Texas hayseed phenomenally given that she's a British actress. I see she was nominated for Best Actress in A Leading Role, but not sure if that is for this Academy Awards or the last. Either way, she was convincing.

Also, updating on my OP, I'm seeing a bit more chatter for Bradley Cooper now (and a bit for Giamatti) but I'm sticking to my prediction for Cillian Murphy. Two horse race at most.

For real, that comment makes zero sense to me. RDJ took over the final hour.

Like I said, just my personal opinion. RDJ did fine, I just thought that entire part of the story was too drawn out and made the movie worse.

Watched May December this weekend and was really impressed. Way more engaging than I expected. And a pretty sharp satire of sorts.

Melton might be a legitimate threat for Best Supporting Actor.

That said, the GGs nominating it as a comedy is hilarious.

Anatomy of a Fall and Past Lives were both really excellent, so I'd love to see both of them get a Best Picture nomination. It seems like Past Lives has lost some steam, but I think Anatomy will snag one.

Loved both of those.

Even though neither has a chance, it's great to see both of them nominated.

For me, it's kind of crazy how much the momentum has shifted from Cilian Murphy to Giamatti for Best Actor. To the point where Murphy feels like the underdog at this point.

And Bradley Cooper has completely fallen off a cliff in the race due to the backlash.

Similarly, Charles Melton (May December) seemed to get hot there for a minute, but that entire movie seemed to vanish like a fart in the wind suddenly. Wonder why that is. Not even a nomination for anyone in that cast, just a nom for screenplay.

Similarly, the same seems to be happening with Emma Stone. Even though I think Gladstone might still take it, all the momentum seems to be with Stone now.
