I think a movie like The Notebook resonated so well with audiences because you could really feel that the characters on screen were in love. It was a radiant performance IMO.

What are some other instances in Cinema that you feel really captured what love is?

Was there more than one ending?

I always thought that him walking on by at the end of the movie was perfect.

Wife and I have started a rewatch of our favorite old movies and this one will never make the list. Wife hates this movie and it is in my top 20 all time favorites.

Last week we watched Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind and a few weeks ago was Big trouble in little China. Some of them don't hold up well.

Brace yourself, There's several different versions of the walk by. Then there's the director's cut, which fits the bleakness of the movie.
