I saw tenacious D live about 20 years ago. They opened for Weezer. Weezer was really good that night. Tenacious D was glorious.

I remember now where he said this. It was on the DVD director's commentary of the Austin Powers Goldmember. Imagine my 14 year old self studiously listening to Mike Myers talk over exposition of Johann van der Smut so I could pull out that nugget 20 years later.
